The game checks that you have the 3 spiritual stones before giving you the Song of Time. In a randomizer, you can just get the song randomly. All you need for the Door of Time is an Ocarina and the Song of Time. The point of the stones is to act as a flag for the event to trigger in front of hyrule castle.

I once did a Archipelago rando with someone, I was playing HK and he was doing OoT. His rando changed the rooster crowing to Link screaming. periodically we'd just hear "AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" and one of us would go "oh it's daytime now"

Ice Arrows are unfortunately a bit useless normally, which is why it gives you the sad music, I assume. There are some randos, however, that upgrade the Ice Arrows to work like Blue Fire and melt the Red Ice, and destroy mud walls.

In the vanilla game, the only thing required to open the Door of Time is the ability to play the Song of Time. Normally, the SoT is gained in a cutscene when you get the Ocarina of Time, and you get the Ocarina of Time from the Zelda escape cutscene that's triggered by returning to the castle with all three Spiritual Stones. So in vanilla you have to do the main three child dungeons, to get OoT, to get SoT. but in a rando all you need is Song of Time.

Yo, ocarina of time randomizers are crazy. It's incredibly easy to get softlocked. There are so many item checks, and if you don't know EXACTLY where to find EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM, then it can become near impossible to finish the game pretty quick.

Deku Shield and Hylian Shield ARE actually good. They let you do bomb hovers, and crouch stabs, both of which are actually very good. Fun Fact! Your Crouch Stab has the same properties as your last sword swing, meaning if you do a jump attack, your crouch stabs will deal double damage.
