Shoutout to Myke and the DEHH crew for being such in integral part of introducing a lot of us to Ka's music. If it wasn't for that first review of "Honor Killed the Samurai" I would not know who Ka is. Now Ka is in my top 5 of all time and his music has had such a huge impact on me.

The Thief Next To Jesus is a masterpiece, and it's far from Ka's first. But he's becoming more ethereal with each release. One foot in the deepest gutter on earth and the other in the upper atmosphere, while he balances perfectly in this enlightened state. This is literal soul music.
@gotf3 ай бұрын
I get chills every time I hear “if they really wanted to bless me should’ve passed me the collection plate”. Sometimes KA will give you these really complex bars with crazy wordplay, and other times he’ll give you a simple line like this that just cuts straight to your soul.
@mykectown3 ай бұрын
God, I had that line in the video too, but took it out to keep the video from being too long. But I took it out to keep the video from being too long. But that line is seriously incredible.

It's refreshing to do! Folks really don't get it but I seriously hated reviewing albums that I didn't like towards the end of my time with DEHH. It's just too much energy spent in the wrong direction for me.

You would probably dig the self titled ØKSE album. It is live band Hip-Hop by an Avant/Free Jazz band with verses from Billy Woods, Elucid, Maassai and Cavalier. Definitely an interesting release this year. Half and half on instrumental songs and Rap

Myke listen to the new Joey Valence and Breas album "No Hands". It's like a modern-day version of Beastie Boys, but in a way that isn't corny. You'd get down to the song "the baddest"

I'm really interested in your thoughts on the new Em album, but with what you said in the intro I totally understand if you don't end up making that video. Personally, I feel like the critical response to it has been strange. I don't think it's a perfect album, but I feel like a lot of critics, even ones I respect, are taking a lot of what's on it at face value without properly dissecting or trying to understand it as a whole. You've always been great at not doing that and pulling things from albums that others seem to miss. Either way, I appreciate all that you do Myke. Keep up the great work man!!
@mykectown3 ай бұрын
I actually agree with you that the critical response has been odd. I blame that mostly on the fact that Em is the current punching bag for critics who like to be negative. I've legit heard folks shit on Em lyrics but then prop up artists whose pen is infinitely worse and just mark it off as "it's for the LOLs". It's stupid to me. That's not to say that Em doesn't have some bullshit on this record. He does. But I think acting like he's a singular voice when it comes to making cringy bars is shit journalism.
