This is part one of an incredible fishroom and fish collection owned and currated by Lawrence Kent in Seattle, Washington. he is a life long fishkeeper and aquarist, that has also traveled the world for work over the last few decades, as he has been able to travel to nearly 100 countries and collect fish from over 28 African Countries, Dozens of African Rivers, Rift lakes and streams.
This is mostly Lawrence's African cichlids, barbs, catfish, elephant nose fish mormyrids and tetras youve never seen before. many beautiful, and many very very rare. only found over seas and in the water with a fishing net, looking for the species that are not in the hobby and often times, not even described via latin names and taxonomy.
I appologize for the audio, as we were on a strict deadline for time that day. Anyhow, part 2 of this fish room tour will be up soon also, and focused on Native North American and U.S. Coldwater Fish.
Regardless, thank you and ... enjoy!

One thing - Altolamprologus compressiceps is from Lake Tanganyika. Lawrence knows this.I grow another morph. Tylochhromis also. Have several species but S. lucipinnis is my favourite.
@Fishtory

I think he just mispoke then. When i looked up the spelling i noticed this also... but with Lawrence...he's brought me fish from lakes near victoria that are unknown but supposedly haplochromis, or with Buffalo heads hes brought them from places they arent listed as coming from ( green lip, blue lip, and narrow varieties ). So i just listened to his narration, since i dont know the difference lol. Thanks for the correction though! I also listed the wrong buffalo head in one case also...opps

Oops sorry I misspoke. Tylochromis lateralis is from Congo Another species is native to Lake Tanganyika. If Lawrence wants another pike livebearer male, Nationwide Aquatics in Chicagoland had mature ones as of May. I am in awe of Lawrence, for his avocation and vocation.

Oh my gosh the first tank shown has one of my (I know I'm an oddball) favorite fish! I set up a 40 g for my 12 buffei "debauwi" catfish and will eventually be moving them to my 75. So uncommon these days - nice to see them in his display tank. Wow the Procatopus shown are beautiful. Looking forward to part 2.

His approach to the hobby with finding and collecting so many species virtually no one else keeps is inspiring.

hey Alex, I've been in the countryside for a month now and I've collected some wood which I plan to use for aquascaping, I found soke beautiful branched tulasi wood, I was wondering if it's safe for my tank , I have neos and bladder snails of course, I will disinfect the wood by boiling it but the wood does have a scent and it's leaves (tulsi leaves) are a very common Indian herb that's used for medication so I was wondering if that herbal property of tulasi could cause harm or stress to my tank inhabitants thank you ❤

My fish and shrimp keep dying and I can’t seem to figure out why. I witnessed one die today and it seems like he went out with swim bladder issue, and he kept trying to come to the top to blow a bubble. He then just kind of drowned and struggled to swim and just died on the spot.
@Fishtory
@Fishtory 9 ай бұрын
Hmmm thats odd. He may have gill issues in his abdomen, they dont breath through their mouth, but they can get "flukes" or bacteria on them that can suffocate them. Look into doing a quick salt dip online theres instructions

@@Fishtory went to the store. Apparently even the store workers and other customers have similar problems after buying new fish like I did. I think the problem is that I didn’t quarantine this time. The fish ended up getting some sort of bacteria infection or disease so I treated it. Thanks for the help though!
