I adored my S Type and the V6 engine was a beauty. Got it over 140mph on the Autobahn north of Munich and you certainly knew you were doing that in this. Lovely to see them going on and on.

Now you need to get behind the wheel of the legendary Vauxhall Senator 3lt 24v. They were very common as traffic cars in Manchester back when I first moved here.

I used to drive the Senator on patrol. Having thrashed each to its limits, In my humble opinion, the Senator was certainly better than the Omega that superseded it.

I photographed a Jag like this for Merseyside Police around 25years ago. They were being used in an Operation called LancsSafe, a collaboration between Merseyside and Lancs police forces to combat cross county crime gangs. Jags where being made at Halewood at the time.

Absolute stunner. Genuine question: When you do these types of videos, are you able to demonstrate lights and sirens? Obviously, whilst stationary. Particularly of these older cars.

Nice vid. It would be nice to see more of the controls, radio sets, grille lights etc... there was such a national difference in lighting set up like this one of wheelen/woodway arrangement compared with Premier hazard/code 3 or federal signal vectors etc

OMG!!! 😮 My heart skipped a beat at the start of this video and I had to triple take!! In the early 2000’s I had a Vauxhall Omega and the reg was T801HRP They were used as police cars too. Infact, I once went to buy (test drive) a mk 2 Omega Reg OU03KFC which was an ex police car in the Thames Valley. I have actually seen it on roadwars.

North Vancouver RCMP in Canada used to have one S-Type. I suspect it was some promotional donation deal with the local Jaguar dealer. Regardless, the fact is there was more than two police S-Types if you inlclude cars outside of the UK.

The South Yorkshire Jaaags used to patrol the M1, I recall them very well and I was surprised when I came across one. I was expecting a Volvo Box Estate car.

The other Jaguar hasn't had an MOT for 2 years and has been left untaxed for 2 years so it's either sitting in a barn or drive way don't know where I just plate checked it

I had a '99 S-type 3.0 manual. Great car. Don't think I've seen any Jaguar police car, let alone S-types. I also have got some of the cars in the background 🙂. Not suitable for pursuits? Not surprised - it's a luxury grand cruiser, not a sports model.

I remember the early 2000s Merseyside police had 2 saab 93 turbos. You would hear them first, that turbo, and you knew it was the saab.

Being from the opposite side’ I can remember being in back of a Rover 827 traffic car ‘ and it was the most comforting journey to the nick I ever had. It gets close to 140mph. One of the last journeys when picking my dad up from the hospital in it, we had some fun. Well i did. My dad was telling me to slow down. Then the lights went on 😁. Happy memories.

As a Police traffic car the S-Type would have been brilliant for Motorway work. My neighbour is a car dealer and she's got an ex West Yorkshire police Peugeot 208 17 plate for sale even down to the YJ start of the registration she told me she bought it from the Auctions in Leeds.

When I was a kid in the 60s the police in Eltham had a black two seater Daimler Dart. I think that they only had the one and we used to see it flying around the streets. Not sure whether they just had it on test but I believe it was in a crash. Any know anything about this.

Very interestingly a model was made for T802 BRP in 1/72 scale (cararama was the make) , I own two of the models in question … which this has actually surprised me that they were a demonstrator

I drove a Jag police demonstrater on patrol in the early 1990s in Avon . Nice car, but drank a litre of oil every shift. The dashboard was flock coverered card.

I had the V6 three litre I bought it from new and covered 300,000 miles , but sadly it required a new auto box and the dreaded rust got to the seals, But a great engine

I doubt it would have been owned by the Police, more likely to be on loan from Jaguar. Car makers will loan some mad cars to the Police for PR purposes, often they are pre-production cars.

I do like the the styling of these S type Jaguars they are near perfect a very good looking car as for all the Police equipment lights ect in Australia they are all removed when they are sold because it is illegal to have blue and red flashing lights on your vehicle those high vis vest with Police on them highly illegal the decals highly illegal there is a law in Australia of impersonating a police officer but if youare a serving police officer no problem its a different story for old fire engines and Ambulances the red and blue lights have to be removed but you can tell they were serving fire engines because they are red you cannot tell if the car was an ex police car everything is removed even down to breath testing devices but you can buy non police breath testers

They don't flash slow. They've slowed the recording down or dropped the refresh rate as it's an older strobe bar and they are quite hard to film due to camera refresh rates.

That's what kinda tricked me here. 😅 A native car/technology magazine gifteted it to now long defunct national trafic enforcers as a sort of 50 year anniversary gift for the magazine itself. I remember the M6 got the fastest Jag on the planet it did about 12MPG and the drivers had to go for race car driving courses. They had to have it to catch cars on the M6 allegedly,now where did it go who bought it because the Police sold it I bet it never went to auction what a complete waste of money.HaHa anyone got a clue.

I imagine he had the lights covered up , should also have had tape over the police sign on the bonnet which was visible in the video , UK regs mean 😊no blue lights can be "fitted" to a historic vehicle but if covered up on public roads police usually turn a blind eye
