Great info, thank you. This gives me some good ideas for my current situation.

We definitely agree on your "digital ritual" viewpoints.

This was very helpful, thank you. We live in such a tiny space, most of my stuff is inside or at least starts that way and since I don't have space outside for a good fire I use a ton of candles in my rituals to bring the energy and sometimes take it close to the window and burn small paper things or whatever depending on subject/ritual. I sent this to a view friends too, great tips. I know it's kind of a side note but I also really really love the No electronic thing during rituals I love utilizing that outside of my CD player for certain mind setting music and even that is only on certain occasions.

Our neighbors stay to themselves, but we are all in close proximity so our outdoor rituals are toned down substantially volume-wise out of respect. Now, when we are out on my Godhi's odal lands in the woods, it's a completely different story 🙂

Great tips and info. We are lucky in that here in our area public blots by Heathens and other Pagans are pretty much a common thing and not many issues have ever arisen. Aside from some homeless folks coming up to see if they could partake of our food. lol

On idea that we have done is to reserve a group campground for a weekend. Most of which are pretty secluded and private, which gives for a little more freedom when doing a blot/sumbel. Obviously still have to be conscious of what you are using for your offerings, but at least it would afford a bit more privacy.

Drinking around the fire is definitely it's own thing, referred to as "Gebeorscipe" in Pollington's "The Mead Hall". "While the symbel was a heavily symbolic, ritually rigidi and controlled form of event, there is evidence for a less restrictive social occasion. This appears in literature as the "Gebeorscipe" which can be rendered "beer-drinking" or "drinking-party". It seemed that this kind of occasion could have elements of the symbel attached to it, although it may not always have done so." It's definitely not Symbel.

Unless you are Hridgari… then it’s still Symble, what we refer to as Folk Symble

@@EricWordWeaverSjerven that is what sounds Theodish to some, maybe. That Hridgari is YOUR religion. The tribe/theod/kindred traditions become the religion of the people. 🙂

It sucks you haven't been able to play DnD recently. Hopefully you get to soon. Depending on time, I'm really excited to hopefully catch a livestream. As far as digital rituals, I'm not sure I agree - at least not fully. I was part of an online ritual at one point, and it felt powerful enough at the time. Though, I guess if that was true I wouldn't be clamoring to find an in-person group now. Have you thought of making a Discord server for your community? Facebook seems to be sort of dying for younger kids - myself included, I only go on when I *have* to - and Discord is great. Just something to think about.
