I’ve been looking to purchase my first Shamisen. Not only does it share the name of my favorite poem of all time, by my favorite poet of all time. But it is also my favorite color, and sounds absolutely awesome. I think it’s time to start saving my summer paychecks.

Such eye candy! I’m currently saving up for a student tsugaru shamisen, once I get good at the shamisen, I’ll upgrade to this. Hopefully in the near future this raven tsugaru shamisen will still be here.

It's still a blast to play! I started on the beginner's shamisen, but I might have gone with the Raven if it was available back then. This is a great instrument, and I don't think I'll need to upgrade again.

Hey, did you get the Shamisen? I'm currently thinking about trying to pick up the instrument. I've always loved it but never felt like I could put in enough dedication into it but now that has changed. I always heard that you should always only buy directly from the Craftsmen to get an actual good instrument which is hard in Europe.

Wow, that is some glorious wood. and the Doukake looks great. I wish I had the spare cash for one... How can you tell if a Shamisen is Chuzao or Futozao? where do I measure from-to, and the tolerances for each size? You state Width and Height, but is Length a factor, or is that basically standard, unless it's a students/half-size one?

As far is I know a chuzao Sao is 28mm wide where the futozao is 30mm

@@stinky_lizard Correct! The length of the sao are the same, so the way to tell is measuring the width of the sao near the tenjin. :)
