I recorded this on cassette when broadcast. Long gone now. Thanks for this. Virginia Astley did at least 2 excellent solo albums I know of. 1983 'From Gardens where we feel secure and 1986 'Hope in a darkened heart'. "Hope' is available on Spotify.

Good Afternoon, Vibracobra23 and can I give you a big THANK YOU !! for this "Rare As Hen's Teeth" COMPLETE, uncut download, of the 1982 Ravishing Beauties John Peel Session. There is another similar KZbin download, but with that one, there is NO gap between tracks and the final track, "No Need To Cry" annoyingly, clips out, 7 seconds early! I caught and managed to tape 3/4rs of this session myself by chance, whilst trying out a then newly purchased Sony TCD5M Pro cassette recorder, BUT..I missed the first half of the last and best track, "No Need To Cry" and until now, have had to do with Lo Fi transcripts of this, purchased via post.. I hoped and prayed at that time, that John Peel would repeat this session on his radio show, but it was not to be. Also, the hope of the release of Ravishing Beauties tracks on vinyl also came to nothing as this group with so much promise, folded. At last, I am in 7th Heaven, over 34 years on, I am now at last, in possession of a clean HiFi copy of these wonderful rare tracks. All that I want now, is for Virginia Astley, to release her superb 1983 LP, "Promise Nothing" onto CD. I do already have it, but it is a CD of a cassette tape, of a friend's slightly scratchy LP.

Can I be curious and ask you, of the source, of these exemplary recordings? On headphones, they appear to be noise and hiss free. Even on Maxell Metal cassette tape, recorded in Dolby B, my recordings do not sound as good as this.. Again, thank you for bringing back to public awareness, these rare, previously forgotten John Peel sessions.

Stephen Garratt This one was recorded from a repeat on BBC 6 Music a while back...though I do get others from multiple sources...preferably from the horse's mouth...and avoiding official releases wherever possible

Just had a look at the BBC 6 page and this was broadcast back in April. My listening habits have changed in recent decades, so unfortunately, I missed this one! Will have to make sure that from now on, I have a scan at the weekly Radio 6 Schedules, so that I can set my recorder for any interesting archive material! My next bit of Nirvana, would be a HiFi copy of the 1974, John Peel Session, Tangerine Dream Chichester, Oedipus Tyrannus concert. I DO..have a LoFi copy of it on the Tangerine Tree CD but would love to have a BBC original..

Heard this on 6 music , the first tracks a tad creepy, but very good, sounds a lot like judy evans the singer from Girls At Our Best
