The RAW recording in video

What is the RAW recording ?
What are the differences with the encoded or compressed recording like X-AVC or ProRes ?
We are going to talk about sub sampling, bit depth, log profiles. Don't worry if you don't get everything, I'll deal about these topics in other videos.
For now I want you to understand the main features of RAW recording and what you'll be able to do with it once you're editing or color grading your film. I show you what happens in Davinci Resolve ;)

You'll understand why RAW recording is interesting to shoot movies ...
Here is a piece of information I didn't mention in the video : Each manufacturer has is own RAW, you'll find Blackmagic RAW (BRAW) in the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera and URSA, ARRIRAW in the Alexa and Amira cameras, R3D if you shoot with a RED camera ... But the idea is the same, and you can also choose how much you want to compress your RAW recording.
I'll start to tackle the differences between 422 10 bit and 420 8 bit, REC 709 and LOG profiles in this video ;)

Se perdre sur KZbin et tomber sur cette chaine, quelle aubaine haha ! En regardant les autres vidéos j'ai vu que t'expliquais super bien et efficacement des notions pas forcément évidentes alors bravo, j'espère que ça perdurera ! ^^

Merci pour ces explications ! Peut-on faire des proxys avec le RAW ? Si oui, comment apparaîtront-ils sur le moniteur de la Timeline ?

Sur la plupart des caméras qui tournent en raw tu as une option pour enregistrer tes plans aussi en proxy en parallèle de l'enregistrement raw. Et si tu passes par un programme de montage tu feras un encodage des plans comme tu le fais d'habitude, les réglages sélectionnés (Iso, balance, profil image) devraient être ceux utilisés pendant la prise de vue.

Hélas je ne tourne pas en raw . J'ai une c100 ll peut-être un peu limite en 2023 . Bravo pour votre présentation 👍

On a aussi un C100 qu'on aime beaucoup utiliser pour les cours pratiques, une caméra très complète !

Ton A7III pourra enregistrer des photos en raw mais pas des vidéos en interne oui.
