I seriously don't understand it. We can go even deeper. The more the game progresses, the enemies become more aggressive, more well-trained, better armored and with much better weapons. On the narrative side, they also become much more serious. First they're some thugs robbing a gas station, then they're junkies with guns, then a paramilitary security contractor firm, then a literal terrorist organization. And if you want to get S rank, you not only need to save every civilian, but you need to stare down all these guys with decked out rifle platforms, tanking shots while shooting FMJ ammo through doors and walls and you return fire by shooting them with tasers, pepper balls, bean bags and non-lethal ordinance. And you can't even afford to incapacitate them, you have to apprehend them while they're fully conscious and unharmed. You literally have to put yourself in a counter-terrorist life or death situation and shoot the armed suspects with spicy paintball guns to get the S ranking. And people say this game is about police brutality. Motherfucker, I'm the one getting brutalized through walls because I aim to be a good cop! I will never understand how a realistic and faithful depiction of SWAT operation can be label as "police brutality", when the whole game's premise is to go in a hostile situation with odds stacked against you to save all civilians, following ROE and avoid killing suspects and ARREST prime suspects instead of treating them as every other armed assailant. You are literally the good guy, a good cop, saving lives. Police brutality where ?

Something I'll like to add about the copaganda allegations: The game implies you're solving nothing in the long run because the problem in Los Sueños is caused by the crisis those at the top created, mainly poverty just like IRL. The LSPD just deals with the consequences while keeping the status quo, either intentionally or not. If anything, this is a very fair critique towards the police.

i had the same question when i first heard this term, in short it would be depicting the actions of police forces (like arresting, using physical force, killing people during action, etc), in a good light that could glamorize or justify bad actions done by some cop. But i think this bad view of the police corporation is more of a american thing because of the racial tensions that the country has and bad actions taken by cops stimulated by racism and other factors. But honestly is kinda hard for me to grasp this problem because here in brazil the population is massively pro-cops and other armed forces (military, navy, etc) and see them very favorably in comparison to other state entities. @@HerrJaeger64
@gpheonix111 ай бұрын
i dont think that's a critique of police. Like that implies they should stop trying to keep law and order. As if that's somehow supposed to lead to anything getting fixed. That just makes things worse. I think it's best to just say the people are reaping what the politicians have sowed and leave it at that.
@fabianoyaga861011 ай бұрын
@gpheonix1 They're a tool of the system that created the problem in the first place. They might not be the direct responsible since it's very clear the main cause of crime are the politicians who run the city, but they're certainly the keepers of it by not focusing on stopping the ones who are actually to blame for all of this. And this is why it's a critique, because in real life, at least in America (and I specifically mention America because this is where the game is set), the police is nothing but keepers of the status quo and defenders of the interest of the wealthy.

I really like the theory that Judge is in purgatory. Especially after seeing the connections between him, the USIA, and the stuff you see in Lethal Obsession. The name of "Judge" as the main character makes sense in so many ways, obviously for the fact that you "judging" people in every mission, you're determining what the best course of action is, and you're trying to complete the mission with as few deaths as possible. The whole, "Bring Order to Chaos" motto just feels like it's what Judge represents. You, as a player, get judged at the end for what you've done in the mission, and I find it interesting that the only way to S a level is to not kill anyone, even those who are the most despicable of humans. Idk, I want to play more and learn more about this stuff because of this video. There's a lot more I wanna say about this but I really can't say more until I've actually completed all the missions in the 1.0 release. But I just find it fascinating that Void has this sort of "style" to their game that really reinforces that idea that something is wrong, something is empty. I find the whole ARG they did similar to that sort of style. I want it to mean much more and I can't wait to piece together more theories as I explore the game more.

I made that reddit post, I'm less confident in it now because a lot of the dream like atmosphere was due to early access lack of polish, particularly disjointed voicelines, but it still is compelling. The game, especially the environmental storytelling in sketches on the walls, graffitti, and whatnot do hint at a supernatural or otherwordlly influence deep beneath the surface.
@majiipajii11 ай бұрын
@@1111Tactical I'm glad you made that post! Even if you're less confident in it, I still feel what you meant by the dreamy atmosphere. The new station, despite being bigger, still has those NPC's who just stand there and do nothing. Obviously there are game design reasons why, cause budget and stuff, but it's still fun to theorize about. What new thing I've learned is that you can get a secret "kill me" command if you kill an innocent person mistakenly. You even get an achievement for it. After saying "Kill me", Judge has some really depressing voice lines that make me think that if this were purgatory, this is the reason he's being judged. He killed an innocent, and "replaying" this memory. Speaking of achievements, there are some Tarot card names. The Magician (arrest downed suspect, find out they're faking it) The Devil (Use the Kill Me command) The Fool (Be killed by a civilian) The World (Complete game in ironman mode) The Hermit (Complete ironman mode without losing an officer) The Hanged Man (Complete Port using only a taser, flashbangs, and bash) There could be more meaning with these, but honestly they feel like they mean what the achievement says, rather than having any deeper meaning. I could be wrong though, who knows.

Great video man. I hope you do an update now that the 1.0 is out. Side note: the discourse on “Copaganda” is so stupid. Everyone gets their panties in a twist because “you’re fighting bad guys who are unequivocally evil”. That’s what SWAT is for! They aren’t beat cops, they don’t do patrols, they are called for the WORST situations that require, you guessed it, special weapons and tactics for that situation. There are evil people in this world who do things only for themselves, you’re just playing through realistic scenarios taking those people down.
@archangel972710 ай бұрын
In fairness, some swat team members do on occasion go on patrol to keep that edge that beat cops develop. The copaganda line is bs though. SWAT or Special Weapons and Tactics, are called in for situations that regular police can't handle. Examples would be hostage rescue, protection route securement, terrorist attacks, mass casualty events, and unique scenarios where the skills of a swat team member would be extremely useful like shooting the gun out of the hand of a criminal. (yes this has happened)

It just so happens that Team17 is also the publisher for the game Trepang2 and there's heavy mention of a "cycle" in there too. The Cycle in Trepang2 being a sort of project of cloned super soldiers who're used for all sorts of things, like black operations, infiltrations and sabotage. The character you play as is the 106th iteration of the cycle and throughout the game you're tasked with taking down previous rogue iterations, all of them also constantly telling you to break the cycle and to take down the organization that's running the project instead. Of course this could all just be a big coincidence since Trepang2 focuses a lot more on the paranormal unlike Ready or Not's more grounded setting. Edit: added more information

Of course it depends on the game and those kind of details like the "ballons" would be very weird in a CoD for example. Ready or not is a perfect game to put those details in because it's going for that cruel ultra realism. Those kind of details give YOU as a very attentive player that knows these details and the meaning behind them more respect for the environment that you are operating in.

29:24 So here's what ACTUALLY happened Years ago when i was working on mods for ready or not i was testing custom level data, so i entered in a custom description for one of the levels, simply entering "i hate minorities", this wasn't intended to be seen by anyone, until i started inviting more people to work in the same modding project as me and at some point the level data i edited ended up in an openly downloadable modding preset on nexus. Someone proceeded to download this project, see the text, and bizarrely assume it was put there by Void and not obviously put there by a modder. They posted this to reddit and the controversy happened. Around this time i was still present in some RoN discords and sent a DM to either Guin or one of the devs who's active in the communtiy explaining where the line came from. I do think it is hilarious a small bit of text i put years ago managed to cause a mini controversy. btw, whoever told you 40:00 is misremembering or partially lying, every PvE map had AI and only hotel(old) had broken pathing, there was also numerous updates along with a PvP branch that got tons of updates and was NDA-free, you can look up footage yourself.

Great video, though as someone who also got to play the old NDA’d builds of the game I can’t say I agree with your source for this video. Whilst there’s elements of truth to what they’re saying they’re being very bad faith, exaggerating, leaving out context, and in some instances lying. They themselves made their bias clear to you at least.

The whole spider thing being made out of people reminds me of Alice Cooper, I remember hearing the idea of that from RazorFists recent Metal Mythos video. Apparently it was one of Alice's darkest ideas for a story album of sorts, but I think it was mentioned that some others took the same idea of the "Human Spider killer person" and put their own spin on it, I would love to say the Devs of RON probably knew about the story somehow. 36:14 Edit: OKAY SO.. The album was called "Along Came about a spider" or something like that, but I feel POSITIVE, That maybe one of the Devs are a fan of Alice Cooper! (Lmao, put that on an Iceberg!)
@David-lb4ke11 ай бұрын
Coincidentally that’s very close title to the movie “Along Came a Spider”, which is based on one of the books in the Alex Cross series. It’s about a serial killer who methodically abducts women and girls. In the movie, he abducts a girl from a private school while in-session.

the 2 nouns mentioned around 12:07 are Al Zubahir, one of the hand's leaders. Quademah's right hand man, if i'm not mistaken. and Midi. a village in Yemen, which is the place that America had bombed, and was also Quademah's home. "Have no fear. This night is for Al Zubahir. A few notes, not to discredit the video or anything, I think you did a good job on the video for sure. But there are a few points that I should bring up. Voll/brixley have no concrete connection to the russian human trafficking ring, if there was any it would be very loose. While some speculation could be made, the primary import/export made by the russian mob seems to be teenage-adult women. With any younger imports being a small minority/niche exceptions. All of voll's victims are both male and female and seem to be gathered from brixley using his "talent agency" front, and by enticing very low income mothers to willingly give up their children with the promise of large sums of money. The bolton security guards do act more as mobsters than they do "private security" as they are seen acting as loan sharks to get money brixley owes voll. But the individual guards themselves aren't necessarily involved with any of the child exploitation operation directly. It seems the reason they are deciding to shoot at police and such is because 1. voll is compensating them 10 times their normal pay to keep his operation under wraps. And 2. Being associated with the operation is essentially a death sentence trying to win a case in court. And your timeline of events was wrong for valley and data center, the timeline is: ???(Most likely streamer) -> Data Center -> Agency -> Valley While the story has been revealed to an "illegal crypto mining operation" for streamer, data center is also connected to illegal crypto schemes, and the level description for data center could change to reflect that. I think initially it was going to be that you find illicit content on the streamers computer which would lead you to mindjot and so on but I think they changed it to make the crimes feel more varied and less of just "everyone being a pedophile" The reason I think this, is because it definitely wouldn't be the first time they've made major story changes to levels. Take hotel 2.0/sins of the father, the initial story was about 2 gangs having a shootout in the hotel, now it seems to involve a group of secret service/body guards of the senator that have gone rogue. (This is just me adding my own speculation and theory) I also think that the current story for the hand in hospital is a complete red herring. The reason being is that the voice lines in the files suggest that the hand want to kill whoever they're keeping in coastal grove as some form of vigilantism. With lines like "You're going to keep that psycho alive, but arrest me?" and "There is no time for court!"

If you read the descriptions for the missions the current order is Valley -> Data center -> Agency. The description for Valley clearly states that the evidence leading to the raid was gathered by the LSPD cybercrimes division, while data center and agency both state they issued the warrant from data found during each raid.
@soultaker2254 Жыл бұрын
@@pickelsvx Valley: "Having taken down a distribution center for an illegal cp ring operating out of los suenos (agency), the LSPD cyber-crime team has now located the man profiting from its sales. LSPD SWAT have been sent to his home on a warrant service." And all of the suspects on agency are working on behalf of voll as his loan sharks. If he was arrested prior to the raid on agency them being there makes no sense as nobody would be actually *paying* them to collect the debt owed by brixley.

Ready or Not isn’t scared to exhibit the worst of the worst in the world and that’s what makes it special. The missions have so many references and lore everywhere that you feel the claustrophobia and stress. Also wanted to throw this out there, but the achievement for getting an S on every mission is called Medal of Honor and the Ironman achievements The World and The Hermit. What if that’s how you end the loop that you, stuck in purgatory, must go back and fix what you’ve done. If it is Judge, maybe his previous life was just killing in every mission, but if you have mercy and get an S, you exit the loop. Like if you get the S on every mission, you’d be awarded a Medal of Honor and saving your teammates (The Hermit) would cleanse Judge’s soul and forgive his actions in the past. He would be dreaming over and over until he finally breaks the loop and the game just ends. That supposed perfect hit squad might be us, the players, who fearlessly charge into missions knowing we can’t truly die because it’s all a dream. It all makes sense now… but that’s just my take on it. Great vid btw.

"Bodies dissolving in acid" it's either wrong expeculation or wrong on devs part if they ever implied this. Dissolving anything on acid is an exothermic reaction that generates a lot of heat and gasses, in another words, you are expanding thing and a barrel probably wouldn't hold up closed. But let's say that you welded it, and it actually held up, you probably would need to refresh the acid a bunch of times, thus doesn't make sense to not let it open in first place. I'm my opinion, they are more likely filled with concrete with the intention of one day be discarded at sea.

Nah they wouldnt be discarded at sea, they are being put under the floor. I agree concrete would be better. However conc H2SO4 + H2O2 would definitely do the job very easily.

Just to toss out since I'm new to the game and lore as a whole, but, I thought the twisted nerve writings were due to it being a meth house, Christina ('Tina') is slang for meth in some places, while I thought the 'DIG' messages were from Breaking Bad where they distract the people by having one dig a hole while he was on the substance (or just the tunnel that was mentioned as you give an addict on that substance a mission they will focus for hours on doing it). As for the 'insect' note I took it as a common symptom and mental deterioration that happens to addicts where they get "ants" on them or under their skin leading to the 'meth-face' people see in heavy addicts. Again I'm new and they could go farther with that and have a whole other story lined up, just my view!
