Props to this guy for coming out! I hold myself back with my parents, I rationalize it by thinking that if I came out of would do more harm than good, because they have their traumas (and thus are inherently irrational, when triggered)

Yup, I think I understand: if you open up, it will trigger their trauma and then they won’t be able to see and hear you. Essentially, they won’t give you a fair shot.
