Sopranos was out, Fight Club, tons of great media. and now here we are with literal discrimination against whites, and gay trannies reading to kids about fisting or whatever sick shit during story time at libraries. "WTF happened? " The cracks were there to see, if you looked, stretching back, back, back into the immediate post-war era. But even at the turn of this century, there were signs. The second tech boom ended in fraud and disaster (just like the first one most people have never heard about), outside the West there were serious problems, mostly caused by Western neoliberalism, and the as yet unnamed "woke" philosophy was already showing up in academia and entertainment, and much to our detriment, wasn't really taken seriously by most people.

About the armed guards at schools: isn’t it strange that the FBI always “knew about” those crazies but never found a reason to intervene? 🤔 it’s as if they created an environment that fosters those and other shootings so they become more numerous until we ask government “to make it stop”, which means take guns away. A Government’s goal is to ALWAYS have a disarmed populace.

During the lockdown I started watching the Sci-Fi original series Warehouse 13. Now I skipped it originally because I read that then Sci-Fi exec Les Moonves picked it up in favor over The Lost Room, which was and still is one of the best miniseries made by the network. So my expectations were low going into it. And I was pleasantly surprised. It’s decent. Not high art, but a fun show. The leads were likable, the premise was fun and any show that has Saul Rubinek and CCH Pounder as regulars gets high marks by me. So yeah. I’ve been discovering little gems like that.

While cleaning the other day, I discovered that my mother had bought me a handful of random comics from a local rural flea market several months ago. I had no clue they were comics, or I would've opened them much sooner. I had never got to own or read a proper comic book outside of the first 3 from Rippaverse. Here's the list of what I got: • Web of Spider-Man: Death Is A Cyborg Called Silvermane! (Issue 80; 1991) • The Spectacular Spider-Man: The Child Within Part 2 of 6 (Issue 179; 1991) • Avengers: Alternate Visions (Issue 360; 1993) • Excalibur: Phalanx Covenant (Issue 82; 1994) • Magnus Robot Fighter vs the 20th Century: Epilogue Part 2 (1994) • Superman The Man of Steel: Blood Thirst (Issue 29; 1993) • Star Trek: Where One Man Has Gone Before (Issue 64; 1994) • Unity: Time Is Not Absolute (Chapter 7; 1991) They're probably not worth anything, but I was pretty excited to finally get my eyes and hands on some real comic books for the first time. And it gave me an itch to want to get more.

There is a concept that I've thought of that I call the "Washout effect." The Washout Effect is the tendency for subsequent media to get better reviews despite being worse media overall. This occurs because the people who would have been rating the shows more critically are more likely to drop a show after they've stopped liking it, than continue watching the show they dislike. This has a general trend of having the aggregate review average increase by having fewer reviews overall and more positive reviews after this selection bias.

There's some cultural confusion over the word "Everyone" that should be explained. When you or I, or any normal people think of the word "Everyone" we imagine a _Crowd_ of all peoples all standing together. The extreme left weirdos on the other hand imagine all people, but they're standing in a *LINE.* When they use the word "Everyone" they imagine A Queue of people that they get to _order_ and _sort_ and _rearrange_ So when they say "Star Wars is for _Everyone"_ They mean it's for the people that they put at the front of the line. and its for the people they hate LAST. And it's the same when their politicians say they will represent _"Everyone"_ or hold _"Everyone"_ accountable etc.etc

To top that all off RTD said he got the inspiration from the Disney Star Wars sequel (Particularly TLJ), that shows how creatively bankrupt he is, but also hilarious that the finale was mercilessly being mocked afterwards. Ah well at least touching grass has been more invigorating, and thanks to Ncuti Gatwa I’m glad I didn’t give this shite-show a second of my time, but more importantly a lot of credit goes to those who did watch it so we didn’t have to.

Kirk drank Saurian brandy, Picard drank earl grey tea. Who would you say was more of a badass?

Kirk was a cowboy, Picard was a gentlemen. Both awesome in their own ways I'd say.

Question for comic nerds: I'm wanting to get into comics. I've seen random lots of comics online that I've been considering buying. Would that be a good way to start? I think I'd preferably like to get 80's and 90's stuff, but I noticed that 90's stuff falls under the description of "modern age". I definitely don't want any of the recent stuff. What should I get? Should I order a lot of Marvel & DC only, from Bronze to Modern age? I'm not exactly made of money, and I'm lost looking at all the different postings.

Bro… no. Anything pre 90s outside of Miller and Moore have NOT aged well. Batman Year One, Batman The Dark Knight Returns, Batman Death in the Family, Court of Owls, Batman Hush, All Star Superman, Superman Birthright, Superman Brainiac, Whatever happened to the man of tomorrow, Batman The Killing Joke are all essentials. Then Crisis on Infinite Earths, Flashpoint, Blackest Knight, Final Crisis, Darkseid War, Doomsday Clock are the other essentials you’ll want. Final Crisis being highly controversial in its approach but important for DC going forward. For Marvel. You can start with J Michael Stracizynski Spider-Man and Claremont’s X-Men. And 90s Avengers and Infinity Gauntlet. Then you’ll transition to Astonishing X-Men and Hickman Avengers. Eventually leading to House of M and Infinity. Know that there’s a boat load of storylines within but this is a brief summary. F4 for example have important storylines but compiling it all is a bit much. So start there.

@@KanyeWestIsTheGOAT- I'm going to have to screenshot all of that. Thanks for all 9f the info. I was wanting to get Batman Year One, but I think it seemed expensive that last time I looked. Unless I get the paperback that I thought I saw.

@@Gutslinger I'd note a lot of the advice you were given would be considered controversial at best by many comic fans. Batman Year One is a good suggestion though but it's definitely going to be more expensive as actual issues versus a collection.
