I lived in the South End of Boston when he committed suicide. I was very surprised as he seemed like he had everything- I never officially met him but saw him around. I heard he was very polite and a true gentleman to everyone he encountered in the neighborhood. It’s too bad- RIP.

I went to Brooks with his brother named Reza. I didn't know Reza had a younger brother and it breaks my heart that he has died. Reza was a very nice person. So sad.

Ali Reza Pahlavi did not take his own life. He was extremely educated and was an expert in Iranian history. He was a Nationalist who believed in Iranian roots and had studied Cyropaedia in and out. Iranian nationalists do not believe in destruction of self or otherwise; instead they believe in always having a positive impact on life, on people around them and on environment. The Iranian nationalists believe in fighting against evil and never giving up. And above all they do not believe in self inflicted harm or suicide because it would be a sign of weakness. Therefore, the chances that Ali Reza Pahlavi committed suicide is zero percent because there is no way he would have gone against his own deeply historic rooted education and Patriotic beliefs that Iranians are fighters and would never give up in face of difficulties.

Which was not to drag the matter (for good reasons), and accept the said public or "official" version. All I know is Alireza would have never killed himself. He was sad because of the events in Iran, and Leila's passing but he was also of the mind to fight. He was not of the mind to give up. I have a good idea of what happened to him and why.. But as I said, I will go with what family has decided on this matter.. and I agree with them, that this matter is closed until further notice...

The Shah was reported for suffering from depression himself. Maybe he and his sister, both inherited that gene. He died at 44 which is a long time after the loss of his country. I would not blame that on his depression. It evidently went deeper than that. HIs older siblings certainly survived the transition, so, younger kids adapt even faster than older ones.

Life is not easy. In actual fact is is easier for the younger kids to adapt to a new country than the first son who was 19 at the time. If the daugher suffered from depression and took drugs - well, it was her wrong choice. If the younger son killed himself at 44 - again he was old enough to know better. I do not really feel sorry for them but, Farah has to stand and she did stand like a soldier. Life is not easy as said and they enjoyed more benefits than many. You can present many reasons ? excuses ? but, really we are responsible of our own choices. Some people suffered much more and survived abuse, segregation, torture and more.
