Honestly, I live in Bangkok and spend 1,300 USD, bear in mind I do not drink or smoke but I do live in a bubble-like area with everything you could need 1 min walk away. Dozens of restaurants, grocery, walking paths, other shopping, and some medical services. The street is about 40 minutes from the city center near a very nice small mall-like area.
@allanwatts8361 Жыл бұрын
u sure this is enough to live a good lifestyle? how often do u eat out
@DerrickWe Жыл бұрын
I eat out everyday, street food is cheap. What I spend may not be typical, though. I have been here for a while and found good cheap places to eat that I like and do not spend a lot on activities I like to walk around and explore, which is free. Where I live has a good gym and jogging track that is also free. Also I did not include my visa cost as I have a long term one I brought a few years back. Rent is the biggest expense and rent, internet, utilities, and cell are about 500, insurance is 60. That leaves me with 750 for everything else. I can have a coffee and pastry for breakfast and and rice and protein lunch for about $4 total. Then i can eat out at a restaurant for 200 baht for dinner which more then enough at a many restaurants on my area. Also I have a friend who wants to move out here, and I tell him 2000 to 2500 as you never know everyone has different life styles.
@allanwatts8361 Жыл бұрын
wow, thank you for your insight! I see what you mean. Have you noticed that the food prices have gone up since the pandemic? When you say insurance, are you speaking of health insurance? Also, have you heard about the tax on foreigners that might be implemented in 2024? Lastly, is a motor bike rental cheap per day?@@DerrickWe
@DerrickWe Жыл бұрын
@@allanwatts8361 The tax law is not a law just a proposal and may be completely different next year if it even makes it to law. Yes inflation is global everywhere it cost more but still far cheaper in in most places in the west. Sht McDonald's cheaper meals are less then $3 where can be 15 to 20 in some American cities. As far as a bike I do not rent them driving in the city is not really safe unless you are used to it. Rates are 180 baht and up per day and that can very based on the type of bike and location also how long you rent it for. Bear in mind you should have proper insurance and a helmet also.
@allanwatts8361 Жыл бұрын
I see! seems like a lot of people are assuming the tax law is full set to be implemented..we'll have to see how this goes...but yea, thailand will always be cheaper regardless than the west! Inflation is out of control here...almost seems like homelessness is going to be the norm eventually in america lol From what ive seen in videos driving indeed appears chaotic.....thanks for your input on transportation and everything else, appreciate your time, very helpful bro!@@DerrickWe

Agreed! Are you in BK or PTYA? I've been planning for Thailand for months now and my total budget with rental is $812 per month. I do mary jane but I don't bar hop nor care to drink and I can cook mostly at home so it's mind boggling to see high monthly cost of living in Thailand but I forget some people like to drink out a lot and are sociable and want to live luxuriously. To each is own
@itsOnMARS202311 күн бұрын
@@Boom38119 For sure, over 1800 dollars per month is definitely on the pricey end for a life in Thailand. You can certainly live in Thailand on a budget of $812 dollars per month all in if you are smart about it. Renthub is a very good website to start looking for cheap deals on any monthly rentals in Thailand. Some decent looking rooms for like 2500-5000 baht per month in Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Pattaya and Jomtien ect. Thailand is as cheap as you make it.
