If you remember, I commented once that "If I had an extra $200,000 to $300,000, I know where I would spend it!" And I wasn't even talking about a No Prep car...I was talking about what I would want to be THE MOST BADASS `66 Chevelle SS Cruiser IN EXISTENCE...!!! Cameron, you and your crew are "THE TITANIUM TEAM" of car builders. It's obvious that people get more than their money's worth having seen the quality of work that comes out of your shop! I gave PRENUP a really close look last season and was beyond impressed with your work. I drag raced, starting in the mid 80's, and have been involved as a HUGE FAN since I stopped racing in the late 90's. I've seen A LOT of race cars, of all types, and would match your shops quality against anyone elses!! Keep up the GREAT WORK and keep cranking out those videos...! Be Well!

As a person that has been blessed enough to provide for my family with my two hands...I have the UPMOST respect for y'all, what you do & cannot stress my opinion that it's almost impossible to put a price on true SKILLED LABOR. How do you put a price on CJR's?? Thats upper echelon...can't be taught in a class or found in a book. Worth every penny.

Notice most guys here are older and masters of their trade, I think motorsports has grown in the last few decades so we should be getting a lot of younger guys getting to that masters level. CJRC LEGENDARY STATUS is a rarity and will remain that way basically because of the unattainable cost to build/own these cars limiting their production numbers.

those are the people on the outside looking in. It is different for sure when you are on the inside looking out. Things become a whole lot more clearer. If you want to win you need to keep getting better. The only way to do that is spend to produce more power and then balance it so it can be handled.

The only thing that was old on big chiefs car was the body after he had the promod. Ever since to stay competitive they all went with tubular chassis and basically full blown racing parts. That's when I stopped watching Street Outlaws and been waiting for them to return to street but they really never have cause everyone else is running tubular chassis and full blown racing parts with engines on the streets. Now I don't think anyone I'd streets racing other than JJ Da Boss and even he has the tubular chassis. I personally don't think cars with tubular chassis is street cars. To me a street car is a car built with a frame and a race engine, transmission, rearend put into place.

@@crazylarryjr that’s a really good point. It’s always expensive to try and be the fastest. If a person is ok on having fun on the weekends and not being the best, it can be done much cheaper. Let’s face it, an old tube chassis car and a strong crate motor can go 7’s nowadays. That can all be had for far far less money, but you aren’t going to win your class. Remember when running 10’s took money? Now people are buying junkyard motors and dropping a little nitrous to do that.
@crazylarryjr
@crazylarryjr 2 жыл бұрын
@@mcb0b1, Now a days you can do it on stock chassis with bolt-ons, don't even need a tube chassis. Kevin At KSR is hitting 7's with stock alumnium block LS and leaf springs with that blue camaro he races. He is on the ragged edge of the engine, but it does it
@mcb0b1

@@crazylarryjr yeah but weight equals broken parts. I would think a 15 year old tube chassis car and 600 horsepower would get you in or near the 7’s. I haven’t really looked up the math on that stuff in a while. Could literally make pass after pass, have fun, and just change the oil.

I don't think it is so much the price that shocks, as much as it is the amount of hours that go into building something like this that causes the price to be what it is. Precision takes time. I am helping a friend build an ICV (Individually Constructed Vehicle) at the moment, and some days we only get a few bars done on the chassis in a day. A lot of time is spent measuring and discussing the best way to achieve the end goal. Custom is exactly that custom, not an assembly line.

Honestly $80/hour is not as expensive as I thought the labor was. Seems pretty reasonable actually.

We charge more around 100-125 on hourly jobs. These jobs are more of a quoted job and we make up for some of the hourly rate on the 80k in parts

That one person is correct though a nova cost about 30000 to 50000. The big difference is that is just a restored car not a race car or and npk car.
