The Real Dangers of Van Life

Van life is not always safe it seems. In the first 3 months i didnt have any troubles or issues with living out of a van. But recently i have experienced a string of risky and potentially dangerous situations. Stay safe out there Van Lifers

you just gotta go nuts on em bro ... when you hear people yelling outside your van jump the fuck out and go gonzo .... start screaming and acting nuts running around your van ....be the agressor ...not the agressed. This is your home bro ... protect it

Why stealth is so important. Im building a box truck for this reason. No one will mess with an Isuzu NPR parked in an urban parking lot....right?! 😬

I dont think you'd have quite the same experience here in the states, but even when everything is good van life sucks.

If you acknowledge them you give them what they want, just be ready with the camera incase the get to close to your van, also have a "Tool" ready incase you have to do some work ! ✌✌

Mostly have had good experiences but I've definitely had a few uncool moments too & thankfully could move on but van stays can def be sketch. Goodluck with your new path 👏☀️

Life itself is dangerous. Crossing the street can be dangerous. The only dangerous things about van life is (1) when a person puts themselves in potentially dangerous situations and (2) Not being prepared to handle potentially dangerous situations even when it's no fault of their own. For an example......A police officer NEVER know what their next call is going to be or even if it's their LAST call. Life is totally unpredictable, and people must be prepared to expect the unexpected. If people want to pursue van life, then they should be educated on the usage of personal protection and the laws in that state or country 1st. Research your environments before visiting. Being uneducated and unprepared is not only the REAL dangers of van life........But life itself - Stay safe

I’m a solo female van 🚐 lifer I don’t feel scared but I do listen to my intuition my son always knows where I am and I also have weapons including pepper spray

10:18 - 'Be Careful about what you wish for..." I have that stability. I have had that stability for a long time... a long... long... time. That's why I'm watching you... don't sacrifice freedom for stability. Stability is a trap. Maybe it's more ' Routine' that you seek?

Maybe pay 100 a month to some one decent and charitable you meet in church or so to park with them , if they have a big property.. good luck! ( You have great energy )

Ooooff. Note to self: Don't Car Camp in Australia. I've been doing it in the US for 20 years with no problems, and I believe US is above average sketchy, especially some of the places I've done it, like downtown LA, downtown SF, etc.

Ive always felt with vans, which are often used for work, could theoretically be used to snatch kids. Im wondering if the guys in the yellow car were paranoid thats what you might be up to. Arent you driving from the sunny coast to sydney? Dont other people ever stop to buy things in this town? Because i mean yoi dress well and dont look particularly homeless and buying things at a store so i dunno what their problem was.
