McDonald has great technique fundamentals -- but as the match shows, fundamentals can only take you so far against Alcaraz.

Alcaraz is fun to watch but players who want to improve can learn a lot from watching Mackie - particularly his footwork and court positioning is always in such a way that he gives himself options on the court. I love watching him play and his hands are magic at net.

Dude it's insane how a guy with a game as clean and quick as McDonald's still just gets powered off of the court by Alcaraz. I feel like you can definitely see the inspiration of Nadal behind Alcaraz's game. He seems mentally strong and has the ground strokes to go along with it. Honestly, he's quickly becoming one of my favorite players.

In fairness, he is still only 19 years old. Nadal definitely became a world-beater very early in his career, but Federer and Djokovic were in their early- to mid-twenties before they started producing their best tennis. @MichaelSienkiewicz2 жыл бұрын
I think it really kills him because he gets pulled wide, hits a flat laser, and then doesn't have time to recover. He also can't take the ball as early as he could with more top. His flat backhand return on those kickers was great though -- it works really well there.

I think Mac just had the wrong game plan. He seemed to be wanting to keep the court closed. Which, i get, it's Alcaraz. But, in doing so, he wasn't able to keep the middle balls deep enough. Alcaraz would just open it on his own. I bet next time we see them play he will open the court up more and especially get into more bh to bh crosscourt rallies.
