I was a bartender and met Mr. Caan. I've met a lot of celebs where I worked, and he was one of the nicest people I ever met. What a cool guy. And we spoke about Scott. He was so proud of Scott. I'm sure Scott will never read this, but if anyone who knows him does, tell him his dad spoke to me about him with such pride.

Duvall talked about Cann shortly after his death. He said they used to call him "all state" because he could pickup anything. A baseball bat, a golf club a basketball and handle it like a pro. Great actor. At his peak he displayed an intensity rarely seen on screen.

I met your father at a car wash. He was such a flirt but he was just being nice. I fell in love with him when I was a little girl. It was really cool meeting him. One highlight of my life. He was very respectful.

In probably the 2nd season of Hawaii Five-O (and the rest of the run of the series), he started playing Danno as James Caan. If you go back and watch those episodes, he was just imitating his Dad. Spot on too. Danno was easily my favorite character on the show, and Scott Caan usually plays roles that steal the show. He's an underrated actor for sure.

There’s that great anecdote James Caan told where he mentioned how his own father was cold and distant and never told him he loved him and he said he made sure that he would never do that if he ever had a son, and how he would cherish him, and he always told Scott all the time how much he loved him.

By the 1970s, Dads were allowed in the delivery room to witness their child's birth. So James would have been lucky in that respect. He already had a daughter, but she was born in 1964, so he would have to wait outside.

Scott Caan was always my number one choice to play Wolverine after Hugh retired that role. Because all Scott needed to do is just get a little more jacked and grow the beard in the hair and he would be the perfect wolverine because he’s short like wolverine is in the comics and Harry. And he has that square chin. And on top of that, he’s a great actor.

The way he talks about his father sounds like James was a type of savant, being naturally good at everything he got himself into. Also I love his healthy perspective on his parents. Their approach worked for him as with another kid, more sensitive or just with a different personality, it could have been damaging. As I hear stories from my generations of kids, growing up in the 70s and 80s, I see parenting was in a transition period from extremely strict on the way to overly sensitive and permissive as it is now. We are slowly learning that a single approach even within a family, does not always work. You could have exact same parenting style with 5 of your kids and each would turn out different. Some would thrive and others would have long term psychological issues and even trauma. Most of us deep inside know what's right and wrong or good and bad (with shades of grey of course). Depending on how you were brought up and in what kind of environment you lived, that sense can get skewed or confused, but if you are really honest with yourself and don't have serious mental issues, you know/feel when you are doing something that is bad for you or people around you. Great clip, I'll watch the whole thing now! :)

I envy anyone who has grown up with great parents. Mine never wanted me or loved me, but since it made for a tough childhood it made me stronger. I graduated high school one day and was in the military the next. It also made me a better parent since as a kid i always promised myself when i had children i would be there for them and they would know they were loved. I raised three by myself and all three have become successful individuals.

Senior was one of my very favorite actors. Talking about his 15 surgeries, i made a career in the military. When you are young you feel like you are invincible and can do everything. When you get older you pay for thinking that way. I will be 75 this year and have had 45 major surgeries, kidney failure 4 times, 4 widow maker heart attacks and cancer about a dozen times. I am rated 100% disabled and i still enjoy traveling around the world.

I do martial arts and Parkour and Mountain climbing, and I am 57. But I found out awhile ago. I wouldn't get hurt or be more susceptible to be hurt because I was getting older, but I would when someone else was calling the shots. Those are the times I got hurt, when someone else, an instructor just kept training me on their schedule. Like my first week back to TKD years ago. The teacher had us warming up, and I felt my hamstring get pulled. Now if I had just stopped and took a break for awhile, it would have cleared. But he had me keep going and was showing a tornado kick, and I went to do it, and REALLY pulled the hamstring, to where I was limping for 2 weeks. I couldn't even go to the class for another couple weeks. Now if I feel I am getting near some point or feel something almost get injured. I stop. But as far as getting hurt, it didn't matter what age I was. I would either try to do something I wasn't ready for, or keep going because someone else wanted me to.

at 16 we were living in Albuquerque... Kirkland AFB to be exact.... I was working my first job at American Sandwich Shop... one night they were filming across the street in a cheap hotel. I recently was there and saw that the place is still there..... but after work that one night we went over and watched James Caan filming a scene in 'Hide in Plain Sight' it bombed at the box office and it was decades before I finally found a copy and watched the movie.... ya it sucked but was what would turn out to be the first time of many visits onto movie sets...............

James Can almost got killed in Brooklyn one day. He was in Carmine Persico club head of Columbo Family. He played a trick on Gianni Russo. He told Gianni when you go see Carmine in the back of the club tell him his daughter is very beautiful. The girl was Carmines girl friend. Gianni did it not knowing Carmine blew a fit. Tommy Billoti and Boozy DeCicco grabbed Jimmy Can and told Carmine Tommy wanted to clip Can on the spot. He was just a Jew but Carmine said let it go and he chewed out the little Jew.
