P Diddy helped make it popular all over America in the 90's when he had it on some of his videos. This new thing they are calling the Harlem Shake has nothing to do with Harlem. This video involves a lot of break dancing. But I want everyone to know: the real actual "Harlem Shake" dance is (as you see a lot in this vid) is the shoulder movement. That is the REAL Harlem shake. Moving your shoulders, arms and wrists in the way they do it here. I was appalled and upset when I saw "harlem shake" had turned into videos of (no offense, but mostly white people) swinging shirts and other stuff around their heads gleefully. That is not what the Harlem Shake is AT ALL. and even back in elementary and middle school, if you could do a good Harlem Shake you were respected.
