Thanks for the information. When I saw Lake Powell for the first time, in the early 80s, it was like paradise. That's why I went there again and again for a few years. Fantastic. That's how I remember it. Then came mass tourism. A lot has changed and been disturbed by human and now the climate is also a factor. It's sad.

I’d imagine. The lake had just become full and it was still a hidden gem. I’ve read about the massive parties in Bullfrog!

One of my all time favorite swimming venues. I have often stayed up on the bench in my trailer where the dump station is. Usually less crowded up there than down by the shore. I usually drive my truck down to Wah Weap to do most of my swimming down there. I love swimming out to the line of buoys there, then swimming along them as far or farther than they go - particularly to the south. Nice video. I agree with you about the lake levels. I've seen the lake when it was quite full, and other years when it's been incredibly low. As you say it is a reservoir and varying levels have to be expected.

Thank you for updating and making a video I was wondering when you would make another one. That would be cool if you can at least do it once a month but I get life gets in the way if you know what I mean. But another great video and what you set at the end of the video about the pipes in the damn in people fear-mongering that is so true. I'm on the coastline of North Carolina and I always wanted to go out west to them dams ECT. But hurry and make another video lol

I used to fly to lake Powell in my dad's plane ,then stay two weeks on the water ,in the boat at least twice a year so fun ❤

Swam a good mile to get to the rock back in '72 to '83. Still good with a sand bank in between in '87. Now...that's a stone's throw away. Several miles to the right and north, was a nice hide-a-way cove with a steep 50 yard sand dune and beach. A stop at Bull Frog with 2 five gallon cans got you to Paiute Farms and back-everyone had to swim at least 3 miles and dive the Rainbow Bridge and cliffs on the trip-those were the days. We had more fun than anyone would ever know. We are all now 70 years old. How time passes so fast!

You sound like a REAL swimmer. I am too. I love swimming the long distances. I have often stayed up on the bench at Lone Rock in my travel trailer, usually away from the crowds that gather down by the water. But I usually do most of my swimming down by the Wah Weap beach, swimming out to the buoys then swimming along the line of them and beyond to the south where there are some quiet lonely beaches away from the crowds. Lots of fun to be sure. I also love swimming off the slick rock beaches up at Bullfrog.

My first trip to Lake Powell was awesome. We pulled our houseboat into Rainbow Marina to pump and get ice. Much higher water level back then

What a special time. Rainbow Marina was the precursor to Dangling Rope.

@@rilianriggs4620 they ended up getting rid of the Rainbow Bridge Marina and moved facilities to a larger area. Dangling Rope Marina was born

When I live there in the mid 1970s, water was all the way to the top of the bathtub ring still looks to be 50 or 60 foot low on Lone Rock.

From what I’ve seen it’s looking good up there. There is a guy who posts updates at the northern section of Lake Powell. Dan of all Things Remington. Good source.

Welcome back, Sir Ratty of Page 👍 Yeah, the reservoir is coming up six inches per day at the moment. It's up 5.5 feet in 14 days. Inflow is in the low/mid 30k cfs. Long term average inflow for this date is 38k. The snowpack figures this year have pretty much followed the 10 year average. I'm not sure you'll get a 30 feet rise but 3580 seems very possible - ie 5 feet short of last years high. So maybe another 15 feet on what's already come in. Right up at the north end, the reservoir is flowing into White Canyon over the sediment bar (elevation 3561) but I doubt Farley will be topped up this year. It remains cut off from the reservoir with the pooled water evaporating under the desert sun. I think the talk of 'power pools' and 'dead pools' has been put to bed for the moment after last years 65 feet rise. The weather is so unpredictable though. I won't bore you with the fact that here in SE England it has been raining non stop since last October. Oh, I just did. Great footage, dear. Keep 'em coming 👍

Did you see any cruiser motorcycles going from the edge of the lake uphill ? Is it doable? Planning a trip on my shadow 750.

I did not see any. You’re going to have to do what the car did in the video and get that momentum or risk going in deeper sand. With the weight of your bike and gear I’m not sure. Obviously lightweight bikes can handle it. It’s just that deep sand which will cause you problems.

@harrywhitt2218 you know it really depends. If I’m not mistaken SLC to Bullfrog is a 5 hour drive and SLC to Page is 6 hours. Page has more facilities as Bullfrog is more remote. Gas will cost more in Ticaboo compared to Page. It all depends also what do you want to see on the Lake?
