The new film Namaste Wahala is a rom-com about an Indian man and a Nigerian woman who fall in love, and how their relationship develops in the face of cultural differences and familial issues.
We speak to two Indians who have also fallen in love with two Nigerians, and ask them if they can relate, and whether there are any similarities between themselves and the film.

My Pakistani family refused to let my cousin marry a Senegalese man who she meet and fell in love with in university....needlessly to say, the marriage went ahead( her mum was involved) but the dad refused to accept....now they're happily married for 7 years with two beautiful kids( I love them dearly😍😍)... The Asian community needs to change their views on interracial marriages....PS: sorry for bad grammar, English is not my first language.

@Warrior Tribe By using that phrase "genetic jackpot" I am merely referring to their looks. I think there both physically attractive or goodlooking, thus I think there offspring will look like them (beautiful as well), though it's not a guarantee and beauty is subjective, but personally I find both of them very attractive physically. My comment has nothing to do with race and everything to do with what I find to be two very beautiful people. Check the meaning of "genetic jackpot" on Google.

I'm mixed race but to them I'm still African which seems to be the main problem even though I'm lighter than half of his family. While this video is nice, it represents Mississippi Masala more than Namaste Wahala. What's unique about Namaste Wahala is the culture AND gender aspect. It's not uncommon for Black men to date outside of their race, so it's disappointing that a Black Woman and Indian Man weren't featured in this video at all (considering they were the leads in the movie).

Growing up in Nigeria, we're very familiar with Indian culture. There's a TV channel that only shows Indian content on DSTV now. Zeeworld. As much as I love and understand Indian culture, I'd still want a Nigerian marriage just because your woman is your home and as exciting as it's going to marry into another culture, I think I'll eventually want to go back home once all the excitement dies down. I think these couples know what they're doing so they'll be fine. But there are also many people who end up separating because they failed to think really deeply about what they want

I disagree. Ppl don’t get Married for the hype.it’s a life long commitment and the race or culture of the lady doesn’t matter if you’ve both agreed to sacrifice, support, and accept each other. It’s that mentality of ‘if it dies down’ thAt causes problem. I’m Nigerian and married a foreigner, and it’s no different from being with a Naija lady and she’s building our home with no issues. Even in Naija an Igbo woman and hAusa couple are very very different, with your logic they’d have problems when the hype dies?

@@aliyushuaibu4447 with my logic? My logic included if they haven't thought about it and truly understood the sacrifices. You seem to have done that so this doesn't apply to you. @@sholaspeaks6672 but there are also countless stories like mine that have worked out. I suppose you’ve focused more on the unsuccessful ones. It may happen a lot that men go back to their countries but that’s simply cheating. Doubt that has anything to do with nationality. Y'all don't get it. This isn't about colour. Partially, social class. But mostly It's about culture and/or religion. Just like Sikhs and Muslims. African and Indians or Chinese. As long as cultures possess strong norms there will always be a clash set by customs and intellectual achievements hence creating a barrier for certain people to be together. White people don't have such a strong culture that's why it's always easy for them to elope with anybody.

Parangon Amusement I am not white, but contrary to your statements, I consider white people to have rather a very strong culture. What you consider to be a weak culture is more the product of exogamy and individualism. Exogamy is the result of the ban on marriage within the kinship group which is widespread in Europe. The individualism present especially in the West is the mechanical result of the nuclear family. What you present as strong cultures are endogamous cultures which have a preference for marriage within the kinship group. This preferential marriage within the kinship group also explains the ultra-racism of the Indians and Arabs. Individualism and exogamy have made it easy for Westerners to break away from their families and conquer the world, the space ... or easily marry people outside their culture.

Do you alienate them? Do you alienate their children and grandchildren? What mistake have those children done for being half African and half Asian or half of any other race? The woman in the second couple (the light-skinned one) actually has a North American accent, meaning that she is probably from the U.S. or Canada.

You are from her family ?. Fool North Indians often do have light skin tone. The first one with brown skin is common in southern India. Overall the first was from south India while the second one was from north India
