I've rewatched it many times, and then go back and watch the episodes. Love it. Miss it. Really do. :)

It was like sitting in on one of your parents' cocktail parties. No flashy graphics, no scripts, it didn't need any of that. Just that beautiful orange set. Charles and Brett poking fun at each other, Gene welcoming new female contestants with a kiss, equipment problems, crew members on set, nervous contestants (we love you, Evie!), and so on!
@jackiwheeler6963Ай бұрын
Oh my gosh. Evie was my favorite!!

I photographed Mr. Goodson's house / apt. In the Century City Towers for the LA Times Home magazine! His home was awesome! Huge crystal dining table! Didn't know where to put my equipment and lighting down!!! Everything was worth thousands, or millions! He donated millions to worthy causes, and there is a sports therapy rehabilitation center that was named after him in Century City! God Bless him and his family!

I would have loved to have taken a peek at that. I remember seeing him in 1990 on tv getting an award and he was dress, as he always was, immaculately.

During the pandemic I rediscovered Match Game and binge watched almost every episode. Richard, Gene and Charles were the anchors of the show. I started by hating Brett but in later episodes she (or maybe it was me) mellowed and became part of the group. Fannie, Betty and quite a few fill ins became treasured. I thank them for helping me get thru the pandemic.

I can remember watching this with my Mom when I was probably 9 or 10. I’d give anything if o could go back and watch it again with her.

My favorite game show of all time: the 1970’s Match Game. Viva its memory and Gene, Charles, Richard, and Brett.
@thebullet7874Ай бұрын
It was the chemistry of these people that made it work. Great fun and silliness.
@M.W.VanDykeАй бұрын
I agree. Remove one element, it all changes. It was never as good without Dawson, and it would have tanked had Gene not been there. Gene, Brett, Charles, and Richard. Those were the foundation.

He does! I can just imagine CRN saying that. 😆

This was a great documentary. It's sad that the interview with Gene Rayburn was his last. May he RIP. Thankful for the joy he brought. Thanks for sharing this. God Bless You & stay safe.
@M.W.VanDyke2 ай бұрын
I think they didn't use enough of that interview with him in this. I appreciate it for what it is, but I still believe the show deserves a fuller documentary. I am sure there are more parts of that interview than what we saw in this. I remember watching it when it first came on GSN. I remember thinking, "What? That's all?" - Oh well. :)

Match Game is one of my Uncle Mike's all-time favorites, it's an all-time classic, something we'll never be another one like that again.

Yes, I agree with Uncle Mike. It is priceless, and timeless. I watch it sometimes here on the Match Game channel. I smile, laugh, remember different times and different mindsets. It is one of my favorite things of all time. 😃

Brett was the biggest mistake of a panelist. She gloated when Dawson left. She didn't have to share the limelight.
@M.W.VanDykeАй бұрын
She was not my favorite, but she did have her moments. I never remember seeing her in the television shows they mentioned her being in from time to time. I assume she was in those shows but I don't recall ever seeing her in them. Not that I can remember that far back... except for Match Game. I remember it all. :)

Who here recognizes the voice of the narrator?? *Clue: It's one thing you can do to potatoes after cooking them and before you eat them.
