In this documentary, we'll be discussing the real Movement of Earth through the Galaxy, based off of the helical model. This model is much more accurate than the model currently used and provides a more clear understanding of the movement of the Earth.

This is misrepresented in many ways. The Egyptian pyramids have shown us that we are exactly where they were thousands of years ago with the star alignments. The sun is not spinning through space with planets circling it like a tail as shown that's not true at all the sun is stationary with planets rotating in a synchronized pattern on an orbital axis each one affecting one an other.

@@hashiru86 the milkyway spins but it doesn't mean the sun is. Find a way to measure and database the earth's position and see how far it spins from yesterday's position. If we are traveling (spinning) through space away from yesterday's position off it's regular orbit then it should be traceable from stars, sun, moons and planets locations and the distance should increase from an object that is observable

Cool video. It gives you an appreciation for just how finely tuned the conditions are for life on this tiny rock we call home. I recall reading somewhere that the oscillation of the solar system lines up with mass extinction events. The premise seemed to be that our proximity to other stars created a sort of gravitational tug-of-war within the Oort Cloud, sending long-period comets our way, some of which find their way to Earth. The research seemed to indicate we were overdue for a collision. Or maybe we just got lucky and dodged a bullet. Can you imagine something the size of Hale-Bopp smashing into us? Not even Billy Bob Thornton or Bruce Willis would be able to stop a beast like that. Anyway, cool stuff. The info was presented in a straight forward way. I did read about a paper that challenges the fast accelerating universe and posits that it is static, that we have been reading the data the wrong way. Wonder what that will do to cosmology if that theory proves to be correct. I guess the Science Channel will have to go back and redo all their gloom-and-doom scenarios about the fate of the universe if that turns out to be the case.

Even with our modern technology, I'm still blown away by our ability to analyze the structure of the universe. I'm also reminded of how rare and precious our planet is. We should be putting way more effort into space exploration and colonization. As representatives of the only known planet housing intelligent life, we've got a duty to preserve, replicate, and spread as much of Earth's essence as possible before its time is up. Imagine if all the people of the world could stop obsessing over wealth accumulation and focus on how to become the first interplanetary intelligent species.

3:10 While the Earth's orbit is not a perfect circle this has nothing to do with the seasons even though it appears it's what a lot of people remember learning. If it was the cause of the Earth's seasons then the Northern and Southern Hemispheres would have the same season at the same time but they don't. The Earth is closest to the Sun when it's Summer in the Southern Hemisphere but winter in the Northern. The difference in distance to the Sun is barely anything compared to how far the Earth is from the Sun.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but perihelion and aphelion (at 3:30) have nothing to do with the seasons. If distance from the sun was responsible for seasonal weather patterns, the entire earth would have its summer in January and winter in July. Rather, the earth's tilt is responsible for our seasons. In January, the northern hemisphere is tilted away from the sun while the southern hemisphere is tilted towards the sun. While the norther hemisphere is farther away from the sun than the southern hemisphere during this time, this isn't why it's winter in the north and summer in the south, either. The reason it's cold in Canada in January is that the tilting of the earth means less of the sun's energy is hitting each square inch while more energy is hitting each square inch in Australia at the same time, causing their summer. In July, when the earth is 5 million kilometers farther from the sun than in January, Canada experiences summer because the sun is more directly overhead, and Australia has their winter because they are at more of an angle.

It's a great video. Very nicely done and informative. However, I find myself a little confused. Not a scientist, so my understanding of how things work on the grand scale is very limited. If we (the Milky Way galaxy) are on the collision course with the Andromeda galaxy, and both of us are getting pulled together with other galaxies by the Great Attractor (sounds a bit menacing imho) than how are we getting away from other galaxies by the expansion of the universe? Do they cancel each other out? How do these two forces work together in one picture?

Definitely there are changes. I moved in August 2020 to a new flat. My windows face is Eastern-South oriented. That Summer, Fall and Winter, I got sun light, coming through my Living room up to 9 yards inside. Well this Winter, Spring and Summer, fewer feet of light came in, and by now, no sun light is coming in at all. The closest it comes in is just couple of inches from the window, in my balcony.

The sun spins on its axis. The planets also spin on their axes while orbiting around the sun. The galaxy also spins so stuff is moving round and round the centre of the disc because we're being drawn toward the middle of it. I thought that the "great attractor" is actually a supermassive black hole but maybe it's just a theory by some.

Basically, what is revolving around the Sun is a remainder. There was originally more when the solar system was new but after the chaos, the 8 planets and a few other things were the only things to remain in just the right place and direction to continue on with the Sun, everything else shot off in different directions long ago. The Milky Way I assume is similar, though quite a bit more significant bodies remain on the path than just 8.

Earth's perihelion and aphelion don't effect the seasons. That's dictated by energy per square meter hitting the surface due to axial tilt, not the distance to the Sun.

I remember around 2012 people discussing the "gravity bow" theory. When our solar system moves above and away from the galactic disk the area "in front" of us is a lower density area in terms of gravitational waves. If we where moving towards the galactic plane, then the area in front of us would be dense with "compacted" gravity waves between us an the approaching galactic plane. One possible implication was that since we do not have that gravity bow to shield us, that we are more exposed to potential cosmic rays headed our way.

Could be, it may explain extinctions and mutations, ice ages and heatwaves/droughts. Rises in ocean levels, floods, "The Great Flood", increase volcanic activity. The Earth is actually quite fluid. The continents/plates are constantly moving that is why we have earthquakes.
