All I want is my wife to get well for Christmas. We’re praying with you, Kenny.🎄

Lots of people are good at changing parts out. Buy Kenny is a master of diagnosing. Many years of driving. Just changing fluids and filters at regular intervals have not had any major repairs other than normal. Learned this from folks like Kenny. He’s a great technician. There getting few and far between. If you have a good mechanic, Take care of him. I worked at a import shop year’s ago and some of our customers would bring us Bake Goods!!! I’m older( senior) and still do my own oil changes.

Excellent step by step video. Great tip on turn the wheel to remove axle. We prefer replacing the bad CV Joint with an OEM CV to buying complete axels from China. We have had 2 of the replacement axles break the Ball carriers - steel is inferior on many China CV joints. Carrier breaks & ejects the Balls into the boot - axle spins free just like your example. Never had a problem with OEM GKN Loebro CV joints since 1973. Joints do take some time to put balls back in if disassembled to clean & pack with new grease. Our prayers for a speedy recovery of your wife. We much appreciate your video productions.

Another good informative video, thanks. I would like to add just a couple of quick comments that may help others that I’m sure you did but didn’t show. If the car has ABS , check for codes before the repair just so you know what was there to start with. Before removing the axle, unbolt and remove the sensor or just pull it a little out of the knuckle. That way it can’t get damaged wrestling with the axle. Then of course, carefully match the original axle with the replacement. Is it the same size and length. Do the number of splines match? Does the ABS ring match the original in size and number of windows and is it undamaged? There is nothing quite like being bitten and having to do the job twice. Because of a damaged or wrong new part. Wrench on my friend. 😊
@jraposo911 Жыл бұрын
Good advice
@vincentrobinette1507 Жыл бұрын
I agree: It is critical, that the window count be absolutely correct, or the computer will sense a different wheel speed. That can render the ABS completely useless.

Kenny, would you do a short video on the chevy passcode starting problem. I recently saw one of you people do a short comment on the grounding system on the colorado, "07, and others.,....Behind the air box, they ground 4 systems to the fender with one bolt. Right there from the factory, this metal is painted over, so the bolt does not ground properly. I cleaned and sanded, and put a star washer, and tightened the bolt, and low and behold, not only did my starting problem passcode fix itself, but the blower resistor, for the fan 3 speed, started working again, as I replaced that too, twice already. Just something to look at...... Your vids are a great help, and thanks a lot. maybe this will help some folks..... Grounding on them Chevy colorados. I am not saying it will fix the passcode, but seemed to work for me. ,, as well as the 3 speed fan......Stan,, in Hawaii

Definitely a Toyota thing; I think they still sell replacement CV boots that come with those grease packs. Permatex makes an high tack gasket spray that works great for sticking gaskets on parts which generally won't slip like RTV.

By me I just do CV joints only, the axles almost never get changed. But i guess with the US labour rates the axle is cheaper with the 2 CV joints, as opposed to the labour to remove the axle and transfer it, or the suppliers think mechanics are dumb.
@firstlast--- Жыл бұрын
I bought a brand new cv axle for $63 shipped. 40k miles and counting not a single issue
@SeanBZA Жыл бұрын
@@firstlast--- Yes but just the CV alone last one I paid $15, and it took 30 seconds to pull off the old one, once it was off the hub alone. Then 3 minutes of work to put the boot on the shaft and part fill it with the grease, and then clip the new one on after filling it with the remainder of the grease. 2 clips included, another minute to place and crimp in place, and put it back. Just doing the boot alone all you need is the boot, which comes with clips, and to wash the CV with some solvent to clean it. Boot is $5 or less for most vehicles. But then labour rate here is under $25 per hour.

Hope your wife's health is improving and she recovers fully back to her old self ! I have back home in the US a big collection of bolt guides with heads cur off, and slotted to remove, from Cummins diesels in big rigs down to 5/16's lol.....Had 2 Lexus's LS 400's to work on at shop I worked for 3 times over 15 years. 1 a used car lot owner we did work for now and then towed to us, AFTER he tore it apart (V8) and broke a bolt off in the block trying to do a timing belt replacement. The guy was NO mechanic by any means, but a cheap ass trying to save $$ Of course I got the car in pieces, parts in boxes, a puzzle to put back together after removing the broken bolt etc. 2nd Lexus LS 400, another guy "tried" toremove the engine to swap out with a Japan used engine, he got with the trans, ECU, and wiring harness from Japan, so right hand drive. Well, I hated that job, the driveline is a real pain getting out. Ended up reusing HIS rebuilt trans, with the japan engine,harness,ecu. He wanted the old engine saved to put into a toyota truck ( a trend I found out, V8 into little truck) He never did come in over a few years + to get his old parts he HAD to have, on a pallet.....Did have to transfer and use lots of his engines exterior parts, the intake, exhaust and many other parts. Talk about 1 helluva nightmare, but I got it done, and test drove it to be sure all was good. I always hated getting jobs, the owners tore apart, couldn't get it done, then tow em to us/me lol Ends up costing them more $$ than they tried to save, attempting to fix it themselves!
