Kyrie Irving recently made comments on his NBA teammates that suggested trading them from the Nets, but what is the real problem with Kyrie Irving? #NBA #Kyrie #Problem

This isn’t Kyrie’s first time making comments about his team. This was an issue on Celtics and even on the Cavs. It was apparently an issue in the beginning of the season for the Nets.
To understand this problem, we have to go back to July 1, 2014. At this point in time Kyrie Irving has been in the league for 3 seasons, he’s been an All-Star for two years, and he just signed a 5 year max contract extension with the Cavs. This didn’t mean that Kyrie was fully on-board with signing the extension with the Cavs. So it wasn’t just about the money, the Cavs sold Kyrie a vision, a vision that would possibly haunt him forever. The front office told Kyrie that the Cavaliers would be his team, that he would be THE superstar and leader of the organization. The Cavs had just drafted Andrew Wiggins with the number 1 pick who had such high upside and expectations so it wasn’t going to be an immediate success story, but it was still going to be Kyrie’s team.
And then just 10 days later on July 11, 2014, LeBron made the decision to come home. And just like that, the vision that was sold to Kyrie shattered. With LeBron coming to the Cavs, there was no way that this would be Irving’s team. And Kyrie had no option, he had just signed for 5 years. It was bittersweet. So while Kyrie Irving and LeBron James would become an amazing duo and a Big three with Kevin Love, there was always something missing. Even when Kyrie scored 40 in Game 6 and hit the shot in Game 7, LeBron’s 41 in Game 6 and his block was more credited.
So after 3 years of being LeBron’s shadow, of learning from his leadership, and seeing how he used the media to manipulate an organization into doing what he wanted, Kyrie demanded a trade that didn’t come as a surprise. Kyrie was turning 25 and had won a championship, but some of the habits he picked up from Bron weren’t the best.
Keep in mind that LeBron is the king of passive-aggressive shots. Remember that fit-out tweet in 2015 that was a reference to Kevin Love. A lot of what LeBron says is calculated and he also isn’t afraid to put certain teammates under the bus or get new teammates like in 2018 with the Cavs . And the worst part of all that, was that Kyrie had seen that work. LeBron got his way. Kobe was also a guy who led through tough love and wasn’t afraid of calling out teammates behind closed doors. There were reports the Kyrie would go days without speaking to his teammates while on the Cavs.
And so once on the Celtics, Kyrie had his own team that was under his leadership, especially with Hayward going down with injury. He had his moments of calling out his teammates because that was the power he had. If you look at Kyrie off-the court though, all the players praised how much of a leader he was and how involved he was when he was out injured. Players like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart took to heart the advice Kyrie gave. Smart even said that Kyrie wasn’t trying to disrupt what the Celtics had built which for a star like Irving says a lot.
Then the Celtics did amazing in the 2018 playoffs without Kyrie, nearly making the Finals behind their young core. Irving comes back which means a reduced role for everyone part of that run. That caused problems because now players associated their less playing time with Kyrie which led to falling outs and team meetings over and over again. But if you look at when the Nets played the Celtics, it was all love between Kyrie and the Celtics players.
But Smart said one very telling thing, that the Celtics could never truly understand Kyrie. And maybe that’s it. It’s not the Kyrie is a bad leader, a selfish player, it’s that he doesn’t know how to express what he wants in a way that others could understand.
So Kyrie has been chasing his own team, but hasn’t exactly figured out the right way to talk to inspire change without talking to the media. The Nets are different. Here he’s with friends in Kevin Durant and Deandre Jordan who he wanted to play with. This is the first team that he really got to pick who he wanted to be with and surrounded by. It might help Kyrie to straighten out all these communication issues as time passes. He needs to be able to talk to his teammates behind closed doors and address them the same way he addresses the media. It can be harder to look someone in the eye and say that we need to change pieces versus saying it to the media, which is why I think Jay Williams hit the nail right on the head.

I think no due to the eastern conference being competitive. You have the raps, heat, bucks, sixers, celtics, and western conference people. There's also the possibility of injury or random trade. Another reason would be inefficiency and woes on the hardwood. So no, nets will not win it in 2021. Take it from a raptors fan guys. It's just not happening for them. This year or next year.

I'm think not, but in 2022 they could be a pretty good contender. I don't think the Nets need more pieces, they already have a pretty solid team combining young and veteran players. Maybe in two years the game improvement of Levert, Allen and Prince will help a lot Kyrie and KD. Kyrie needs to realize the value of a good chemistry, even if his teammates didnt get hurt of the last comments, if Kyrie keep doing like that it could be a detonator to this team in some point.

Marcos Martínez But KD only has a two year contract, so he most likely won’t be on the nets in 2022. He may extend his contract, but he’s kind of a snake, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he only plays for the nets one year (2020-2021)

@YankeeD23
@YankeeD23 4 жыл бұрын
@@Kilooma That's complete nonsense. Having "better" relationships with his teammates doesn't necessarily mean that that will make that team "better" or more successful. A practical relationship is more suitable. They are teammates, not best friends. Literally all that matters is that they play well together on the court. Far more dysfunctional teams than the 18-19 Celtics have had more success than they did. And though the 17-18 Celtics did have a better playoff run without Kyrie and Hayward, they were also in a weaker conference that year that the season after. Not only that, the Celtics never would have made the playoffs in the first place if not for the contribution of Kyrie in the 17-18 season. Besides all that, what is the purpose of the playoffs?.. To simply keeping winning until you are champion. You either win a championship or you don't. The objective/target is a championship. Not going out in the second round or the conference finals. Which brings me to this last point. Something that has been recently been acknowledged even by mainstream sports media, that being the dysfunction that the Celtics went through was mostly bad circumstance. Consisting of a team of guys that simply didn't mesh and managent that wasn't sure and/or was incapable of resolving the issue simply because they were waiting for the issue to resolve itself. And the longer that management waited, the less the personalities meshed and the more indifferent they become toward one another. Other that LeBron James, one guy is not capable of single-handedly sabotaging a team. If at any point Kyrie was being unreasonable and difficult, the Celtics would have traded him. Danny Ainge being the great GM that he allegedly is would've easily have gotten something great in return for him. Danny Ainge himself even acknowledges that he and the front office had poorly assembled the team. That they had an inordinate amount of similar type players, that they were going to work out the kinks but they never got around to it.

Been saying this since he was in Cleveland...Kyrie has all the talent in the world but he belongs as a No. 2 guy. He was at his best when he was next to Lebron because he made it to where all Kyrie had to do was score. Lebron could score, facilitate, rebound, defend, etc all he needed was another scorer and Kyrie is an undersized 2 guard at heart.

win without another superstar? Last time that was really the case, I would say that was back in 2014-2015 golden state warriors, and that was because Kyrie and Kevin Love both got injured. before that? Dallas Mavericks 2011-2012. It's not very common... Not even Lebron won by himself(if we consider Kyrie or Kevin Love to be superstar, we know that Dwade and Chris Bosh were both superstars... if you don't think Chris Bosh was a superstar, that's dumb)but ya... Kyrie doesn't need to win by himself without any other superstars.

Kobe always had a superstar with him, Lebron always had, no man you're wrong. The only player that didn't have any help was Dirk and let's be real he played amazing that series but if the heat would have played decent they would have won it no matter how great Dirk was. Having multiple pieces is what wins a championship if you don't have that an individual superstar performance isn't enough unless your opponent chokes like the heat did against the mavs series where they played utterly trash.

KD is a beta male making decisions based on feelings. Just look at him on social media. Why is he getting into backyard keyboard brawls on Twitter? It’s just sooooo weak because he is one of the best players on the planet. He should be above all that and tell everyone to kiss his ass but nah.... he getting his panties in a bunch and fire back petty quotes. You are a Finals MVP! Fuck everyone.

Curry is Batman, Dame is Batman, Westbrook was Batman, heck going back to last generation, AI was Batman - at least AI led a group of decent players to the Finals. If Kyrie wants to fight for dominance on the Nets with KD when he returns, Nets will be in trouble.

You can't be a Kobe-Lebron hybrid without the court dominance of a Kobe or Lebron. When you hog all the shots and kill the offense of the rest of the players, you have to be very dominant, not, somewhat dominant, to make up for the lower efficiency of the rest of the team. Players who know they are good and not much lower than Kyrie will always get upset that Kyrie is not a championship main man, but thinks he is one and is a selfish player.

Hieratus Lebron is a point foward. Kd is a iso monster. Kyrie and bron worked because kyrie didn’t have to worry about getting his teammates involved bron could do that and also score 25. Kd and kyrie are both iso players. My thinking is that the offense is going to be like kawhi and pg East. It could work because kd is far more efficient than any iso player in history this side of Jordan. But will kyrie become Westbrook 2.0 to kd is the question. Kyrie mentality is like nothing we’ve seen. How will he take it kd is getting all the praise if kd comes back 90+ percent? Because 80 percent of kd is still better than 99.9 percent of the league including kyrie.

Kyrie demanding a trade is more than wanting to be the focal point of a franchise or to get out of LeBron's shadow. After he found out that LeGM was using him as a trade bait to get Paul George and/or Eric Bledsoe, Kyrie saw that LeBron was seeing him as an expendable and demanded a trade. The Cavs traded Kyrie for a haul of Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and the Nets unprotected 1st round pick that the Cavs used to select Colin Sexton (they got an additional 2020 2nd rounder which is Miami's pick as a compensation for IT's injury). And neither side won the trade - Kyrie proved to be toxic in Boston, while Isaiah Thomas was not the replacement the Cavs hoped for and was quickly traded later.

LeBron was absoutley not blindsided by Kyrie demanding a trade because LeBron allegedly wanted to trade Kyrie to the Suns before that season began. But before any negotiation between teams could begin, Kyrie heard (allegedly from Kobe) that LeBron wanted to trade him for Devin Booker. So the first chance Kyrie got he left in his own terms. *LeBron was blindsided.. nonsense.*
