I'd argue the only good things in the Queen of the Damned movie are: 1) Aaliyah's acting was great, 2) the sound track slaps, 3) the 00s Goth aesthetic is such a vibe. 😅

I get why people were upset of course but not giving a ^%$ made the movie so enjoyable for me. xD It's such a fun film and like others said, the soundtrack rocked. Literally. Aaliyah was good too but I didnt like her accent. Sounded very vlaaaaaaad to me. "I vaant to suuuuck yooor bloooood". You know ... Fun though.

I have to disagree respectfully with her not being a villain. She ordered the violation of the twins after they displeased her before she became a vampire and had them mutilated. She was a horrible queen before becoming an immortal. With that said she’s an amazing and complex character, but still evil.

No, in the books Marius didn't worship Akasha, he knew all the time that both of them were dangerous to him and to everyone else, vampires and human alike, Marius knew that he was being protected by Akasha only because he was protecting Akasha and Marius did it only because he didn't want to die, that is why Marius called him "those that must be kept" they most be kept, not worshiped, not reverend, kept.
@lebana2 ай бұрын
I agree. He kept them out of self-preservation, not because he worshiped them. He didn't hate them; he was even grateful to Akasha who saved his life in Egypt and also later allowed him to heal faster after he was burned in Italy. He kept their chamber beautiful because he was also empathetic; he didn't want to keep them in plain darkness like the keeper did in Egypt.

Nah, Akasha's not a villain at all. I mean, she only: - Had the twins publicly raped and banished because the spirits they communicated with told her to fuck off and then later on had Margaret's eyes and Mekare's tongue ripped out. -Made Khayman a vampire against his will. -Trapped Marius in ice after he protected and took care of her for 2,000 years. -Killed a metric fuckton of vampires except for a select seventeen because they were either Lestat's loved ones or ancient vampires that could block their thoughts so she couldn't find them. -Wanted to kill off 99% of the male population -Basically tells everyone "join me or die" (yes I know in the movie she actually says it, but it's implied in the books) But, that doesn't make her a villain or evil or anything. Pfffft

How do we know Enkil couldn’t be revived? The heart and brain were intact. He lost a lot of blood. The only way to kill permanently would be to cut off his head. Someone could have hooked him up to IV bags of blood. Also I hate that Marius just left Enkils body buried in the snow. This is the King of the Damn. He deserved a proper funeral and the body wrapped like a mummy and put in a ornate coffin. Not just left in the cold ground.

A young embryonic goth/vampire fan, Queen of the Damned was the first of the Chronicles I read. Do I think the movie adaptation did it justice? Hell, no. Do I still enjoy the movie adaptation? Hell, yes. Yes, it falls short of the story, by a long, long way. But Aaliyah's performance was absolutely on point, and Stuart Townsend's iliac crest deserved its own place in the credits. Unless Chris Rice's TV adaptation of the Chronicles really takes off mainstream, I doubt we'll ever see a cinematic version of Queen of the Damned that really does the novel justice. But if then, and till then, I'll fondly dwell on Aaliyah's awesome portrayal, and Stuart's edible hip bones...

One of the many sad/icky things about the QOTD movie was the actor who portrayed Marius. Literally, did they NOT read the books? The attitude was ok, but for real, he's supposed to look more like Lestat's uncle or dad...or perhaps like Lucius Malfoy. Loved Aaliyah's portrayal, even tho it was one-dimensional.

I think Anne Rice's stories are a slow burn and needs time to develop. A movie of 2hrs or 3hrs long is not going to have the time to dive in the depths of the characters in her novels. Even though Interview with the vampire did a decent job portraying Lestad, Luois and Claudia, there still too much depth to explore. Idk about the new series, but i hope they are taking the time to give justice to these interesting characters.

@HiNinqi Nah, that was Anne Rice herself. She made them all sexually liberated and over the petty b.s. humans do to others and themselves over who they want to bang. Couldn't outright say it in the 70's. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that's when she wrote/ started the series
