That's why I rebuilt an older hull and up spec. New mercury V8 outboard. All up i spent around $60k for a boat that has similar fit out to a $120k (new) boat of the same size. Boats that need rebuilding in the US they basically give them away. I see 233 formula hulls for peanuts, and they are one of the best mid sized hulls you can get for performance

That's what I did with my current boat (20' Talon). Instead of buying a brand new similar boat for $120k, I completely rebuilt one for half the price.

Its crazy that 3-4 years ago you could get a 30 foot boat maxed out with electronics and other options in the ranges $150-$180k and now they have more than doubled

Great video! That gray and red sunsation 40ccx was the first boat I ever built working for sunsation, just shy of a year ago! Super fun boat to build and went from Michigan all the way to Panama, tons of custom options as well, definitely over a mill, great video!

The problem isn’t necessarily the high cost of the boat but more that most boats are poorly built. Look at the hill construction of most production boats and if you know what a good sound hull is supposed to be, you’ll be hard pressed to find it from the majority of corporate production boats. If you don’t understand this I recommend reading David Pascoe Cheers

Better off renting a boat these days...especially when i see the better boat brands selling 24' to 27' around $300K. If you're not using a boat at least twice a month it's not worth it, would rather invest in real estate!
