Your expectations of Tesla Bot at the end of September are total fantasy. Tesla AI could be an unbelievably lucrative business without coming anywhere near your “ask any question and get a reasonable answer” or “ask the bot to do some random thing and then it does it”. How many people thought that Amazon could be a computing cloud provider as well as an online retailer? Amazon thought they needed a scalable computer system for their business and after they accomplished that, they found they could dominate the cloud business, now called AWS. Tesla created AI technology to create FSD and now that they have succeeded with that, they now are creating their own super computer tech (dojo) and AI. Who knows how big this will get? The robot is just the first of many ways to monetize the AI tech Tesla has created.
@clarkd19552 жыл бұрын
@@MrSilvertech I don’t think successful AI needs to be the “super dupper” AI that many would imagine. We have had many AI’s already that are useful and they are not the super self teaching AI’s that can just turn up the giga hertz and compress years of learning into ever decreasing time frames. We have absolutely no evidence that an AI can just continuously make itself smarter. We still have no way of knowing what method will produce some kind of synthetic consciousness. Currently we have had some success with large neural nets but training them requires a huge amount of very precise data that contains the correct answers. AI’s can only produce data (for training) automatically in artificial environments like games, not the real world. We might be close or very far away from super AI but Tesla seems to have made much progress (in areas like FSD ) to be hopeful even without reaching super AI. @nyanbrox54182 жыл бұрын
Optimus is an extremely long term project, which if you look at it one way, only operates repetitive and boring tasks, I think the best function that it could have if it could only do a single thing, is be told to copy the user while they perform an action or task, and then be able to do that task itself on command for instance repeatedly regardless of what they can actually do once they get there, the most important thing they would have is Tesla full self driving software expanded up to 3 dimensions, if they have a 4D vector map of the world in their software, that would be gamechanging on so many different levels, even if the robot itself is unable to carry out any task except for "Follow me" or "go over there" or "fetch the x", it would still be kind of incredible and would still be functional enough that it would have people who could utilise it, in which case the software would have to be able to learn the identities of different objects I mean that is basically the job of an assistant, also, if it can walk somewhat normally without looking impaired, that would be a major plus, even just having one of these follow you around say to a shop, you hand it groceries, and just tell it to hold them, and follow you home, would be really useful too, even extremely basic functionality would be exceptionally useful, and it does have hands and fingers Functions I think it needs to be viable -Move -Hold -Fetch -Follow -Pick up -Put down -Drop if they have a working prototype which can do all of these functions effectively on any object, that already could change the world

One needs to be able to operate in conditions of glare (e.g sunrise) , low contrast like foggy conditions, and country driving in low light levels (e.g night driving). The human visual system is designed at the retinal level to identify edges and motion. You could use a high resolution camera to find the edges of objects then dump the remaining image data. So that you are processing the same amount of data as at the moment.
@lucidmoses2 жыл бұрын
@@jamesakbar-given5009 IDN, I don't think edge processing is good enough. If it was then your eyes wouldn't do any of the other processing it does. I think Your thinking of edge processing around an object. Trouble is, if you crank up the edge processing enough to work in foggy conditions then your going to get zillions of edges. A simple wrinkled shirt would drive it crazy. Your brain filters out a lot of the edge processing based on an understanding of the object. i.e. wrinkled shirt or not, it's still a human. If we look at how pandemic cycles have been accelerating over the last 2 decades, it's clear robots can reduce the down time. From Tesla's perspective, it makes sense to automate human labor where possible to reduce down time and improve efficiency. Toyota and Honda both have been working on humanoid robots for over 2 decades. With Darpa's robotics challenge, it's made progress. Add to that boston dynamics, it's getting closer. I feel like I’m gonna be disappointed by the bot. I think it’s almost inevitable. It’s the first version. But I’m open to being wrong. After all sometimes the first Gen of a product is very good.

I wonder how they will compare with other companies like Boston Dynamics bots.

@@BobbyHo2022 exactly, how are they going to demonstrate their AGI vs other AI’s. I’m really curious.

IF you think TESLA just suddenly started to develop this robot last year. You are seriously mistaken.

1. I'd love to see Tesla Bot walk out on stage and a random guy in the audiance asks, "Tesla Bot stand on your head." and Tesla Bot responds by fliping him the bird. 2. If Tesla made a deal with Samsung for camras those camras better have freeking high end night vision and infra-red capability to see people and animals in the road in inclament weather at night. Especialy on the Cyber Truck.

I'm not sure I would want a car driving on its own if I cannot take control when necessary! Heck, if I'm honest, I really can't see myself giving up control to a robotic car. I don't like that I have to do so when I fly! Not that pilots are not terrific and well-trained, they are; it's just a helpless feeling when your life is in someone else's hands.

Vision is their greatest contribution to a robot. The ability to navigate and predict obstacles is the greatest thing they bring. Should be fairly easy for Tesla to port it as robots move a lot slower than cars

"We'll all be rich" is a rich statement considering how Elon avoids paying taxes. He will not share with the majority of people.

DOJO could learn to build a 2D input interface from machine to the human brain through the human eye. Most processors take in more info than they output, sort of like internet download / upload speeds. Eye input to hand motion is an example. Harnessing human decision making faster training the human brain to work with a computer would game changing.. it would be like learning to play a game with no electrodes in the brain.

Elon needs to stops messing around and waisting time and ask these robots that are supposedly smarter than us if there’s any way to fix global warming or climate change or to at least clean pollution in the air so we can all live happy, focus on the lil problems first then on the big ones later. I still want to have kids and a family and I’m just looking into the future with everything that’s going on and it hurts to think of nothing but negative outcomes to this world. I’m just living life to the best at this point and it works but I still have those thoughts floating around like a computer windows virus tab that won’t let u close it down until there’s a solution to take that virus out.
