The real reason people overshare on social media

If you’ve ever felt exhausted or overwhelmed by the endless feed of perfectly captured and curated pictures that make you feel like you’ll never measure up, you going to love this episode.
I’m going to be elaborating today on an email I received from Becca who i have the pleasure of being in contact with through my letter, The offline Diaries.
She wrote: "I would love to hear you talk about the crazy, endless, and over-the-top photoshoots people have for every life event and plaster all over social media...."
ACTION STEP: I challenge you to do something noteworthy, exciting, go somewhere beautiful and don't document it and especially don’t share it. Just FEEL the moment take it all in close your eyes and awakened senses that haven’t gotten to be active in awhile. Create a memory that will last with you in your mind and that wont be diluted by the memory of trying to capture the perfect shot.

Oh man, I hate to say i've been waiting for this. It's so unfortunate and sad but i've always had an inkling this would happen. Where have you seen this? Love these kind of topics! I am Slowly going off social media - not completely but in the ways that are personal, removing posts, highlights and only using my business accounts for their purpose or using the other one for DIYs (recipes) but not sharing much of my actual identity

Love this video. I went on a weekend getaway with some family and there were so many pictures taken all weekend it annoyed me so bad because it’s like we’re here why do you need so many pictures of yourself then criticize and someone has to take 8 million more. I would just walk away and truly embrace reading the history through the event we went to. I didn’t share one thing online and I don’t care who feels some type of way. I don’t have anything to prove to anyone.

It takes away from the beautiful moments doesn't it? I have a sister who just can't do anything without sharing it online.. she posts IG stories every single day and I am sooo done. I mean how weird is it that I have to see what she is doing every day🙄

Hi I had those same awful feelings with my wedding pictures. But I checked myself and appreciated my pictures and not get caught up. I spent 750$ on my dress. But it has to get altered and cleaned so it went to 1000$. I also didn’t wear a whole bunch of makeup. I also didn’t want bridesmaids but my husband wanted groomsmen so I had them just for him. I didn’t worry about the decorations I just walked for a simple design and trusted she would do it. I didn’t taste the cake 🎂 or the food. My wedding planner said the cake was good and the food was good so I believed her.

Hey Carly, what a great video of you with lots of truths 😇 How do you handle a relapse in social media use, I know for me using social media (Instagram, Tiktok and Facebook) have always been a very hard addiction for me and in 2021 I pulled the plug out of them for one year and returned due to escapism of a problematic situation I was in. How can you stay away from those platforms even in difficult times when the urge is high to mask those problems by reinstalling those platforms? Any ideas would be welcome. Deleted my social media once again a week ago as I saw myself scrolling more than doing what has to been done for my college achievements and future life. Best regards from Jessy 💋
