I might be looking at it backwards, but more than anything else this impressed me with the capability of humans. All this power and speed to replicate what grandma does when she goes to the grocery store. Slow by comparison, but driving, or shooting a basket or practically anything involving motion is awesomely complex. And somehow we do it.
@jaymarbreguera5913 жыл бұрын
agree. the capability of a human is so complex yet most of the time when we already learn that we just do it seem unconsciously.
@eagdhj3 жыл бұрын
@@jaymarbreguera591 it is complex for sure, but it have had over 5 million years to evolve and learn, the computers have had what, 200 years if you count high. God the day quantum computers will be implemented as a small form factor, it'll really change everything. Even only for self driving predictions, analysis and reaction scenarios. In a few dozen micro seconds it would run through thousands of simulation and choose the best one for the current situation. I really think it'll be the biggest leap that enables FSD to be implemented officially in all production cars

If the NN is already trained for all the possible scenarios the do we really need to make any prediction? think about it ..? so do we really need a very powerful computer in the car?

I was once informed by a computer expert at research facilities supercomputing centre (where I work) that quantum computers would be good for breaking encryption - but not really much of an improvement in superfast deep analysis scenarios that the layman might think they are.

Thanks for the excellent explanation on how Tesla AI works. My first computer was a Kapro with 64K memory and a dot matrix printer, It really made a great typewriter, because I could correct my own mistakes before printing. It was a big step up from when I was in the Military in the '50s and '60s and had to write everything by hand and give it to a secretary for typing. I can really imagine how much she hated to see me coming with a revision, because it meant that she had to retype the entire thing. Now this laptop tells me when I make a spelling or grammatical error and either automatically corrects it or makes a suggestion to improve my sentence.

Eg: At 2:18 I can focus on what you are showing on screen. 2:26 & 3:44 In contrast are difficult to focus on so full screen like 2:18 and 2:34 would be better. Great video! 👍 I hadn't really considered that for automated cars to work in real time at speed, they'll need to learn WHAT things are rather than just WHERE they are. Shows how powerful Human Brains are at collecting a mass of info but not consciously 'think' about it - unless it has too. We'll see, but not notice, hundreds of people/dogs/pushchairs/bikes moving along pavements at different rates, but we'll only really notice them if they step to the edge of the road, or stumble and run into the road... or are they just waiting for the traffic to pass before crossing and it's actually safe to drive pass them?? 🤔😫😱

This is just so truly amazing I was trying hard not to cry at the sheer beauty of the complex computers we have today. it’s just so crazy to think back in the late 60s and 70s those computers that took up an entire room are now in our pockets and are FAR MORE powerful than those computers. So when you think there is still computers that take up entire rooms (now called super computers witch is a fitting name) it’s hard to imagine the sheer processing power in a computer that size and the capabilities of such a machine and is hard to emphasize just how far humans as an intelligent species (some more than others) as come and how truly amazing it is. Absolutely love the video great work.

This is why Tesla wins ! They need something, they don't hack half assed solutions... they engineer it from the ground up, in house, according to specific needs. And they're not afraid to throw something out if its not working or something better comes along. On point, highly efficient for time, long term cost and material.

13:52 a FLOP or Floating Point Operation is computing at it's most basic level either a 1 or a 0. aka binary code. 1 Exoflop for the Dojo is measured in Quarter Precision (8 bit) to get it's total while consumer GPUs are measured in Single Precision(32bit) so a 1500 dollar RTX 3090 would do about 35 teraflops in 32bit and 140 teraflops in 8bit precision so Dojo is gonna be about 8,000 times faster than the current GPU king of the market today. if you measured Dojo in 32 bit precision like a consumer GPU it would really be equivalent to about 150-200 petaflops which is still ridiculous.

What Tesla had been doing to provide self-driving was amazing but what they have changed to is astounding. They have shown their path to orders of magnitude greater computing power. And they will be using it on a system that is using a total vertual world view that now is based on all their cameras being stitched into one 360 degree super view. Get ready for the massive improvements this is going to deliver. This expected 5X improvement means we will see the improvements we would have seen in five years arive in one year. It's like 2022 will 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026 all in 2022. So for those saying we are 5 years away those 5 year are coming in 2022.
