This is just a hypothetical not a real-life scenario. you could obviously argue that they might not have gotten those picks if that was the team, but IT (drafted 2011) didn't play well until his 3rd season, which could still allow kings to select Lillard in 2012. Whiteside only exploded recently, so he would not have affected the picks at all. Of Course Lillard could change things since as soon as he came out he was ROY, but they still ended up 11th in the western conference. Kings with Lillard would only improve nominally in 2012, so they would probably still land a top 10 pick allowing them to draft McCollum. McCollum went to the D-League and spent most of his rookie year as a non-factor for the Trailblazers, so if the Kings drafted him, something similar would have happened, which would allow for Lavine to be drafted in 2014. Kevin Martin and Bismack Biyombo wouldnt affect picks, they're not good enough to change pick selections. So, yes they could have easily gotten those picks, especially if you consider that if they had gotten better as a team between 2012-2014, they would have gotten lower picks, which is exactly where all these better picks were.

Also i said that "[Thomas] was not as good as [he was] now" which is true. hes averaging 22 now which is more than 20. Also to note, the suns passed up on him, which would (somewhat) justify the Kings trading him, and thus my comment on Kings not knowing his full potential.

Hey Mike, coming from a Kings fan, and on behalf of MOST fans, this is the worst trade I've seen since Pau Gasol to the Lakers. I live in Sac and everyone is upset at this. Us fans have seen upfront how we refused to sign Isaiah Thomas back because the Kings thought that DARREN COLLISON IS BETTER. We've seen us go through 6 or 7 coaches in the past 6 years. I hate when people comment on the Lakers but dont understand what the team is doing. Lou is going to leave this offseason (MANY teams want him) so we'll get no value out of him. If we want him back, we'll have to offer a lot. IF we do, it makes no sense since Lou will not be in his prime when our young core is in their prime. Also many reports have shown that Clarkson is having a hard time adjusting to less minutes (due to Lou eating those minutes up). Whats best for our future is we get more young guys (we got Larry Nance Jr at 27th) and give more minutes to our other guards. Really it just makes sense, but people will be like "duuhh Lou has good stats duuhh lakers dumb"

ok i get why everyone is saying the pelicans won of course they did. but think about it, yes they all loved boogie he did as much as he could for SAC and what not, but they were not winning with him. as loyal as he wanted to be etc. they got him good/great players at times yet they could not win. this season was their best so far, yet it was still mediocre af. kings management is ass, but they can build something. this draft if they tank, will have two top 5 picks. they also will have buddy, tyreke, willie, and some key veterans to build around. if vivek and vlade do something right, they won't be bad at all in the future.
