@hexpicxs430 during an interview broadcasted on japanese tv, yagoo said the vision he has for holoro and as to why they specifically hired the three holoro member who can all speak ID, EN, and JP really is to make the bridge between all 3 branches while I may be biased because I'm Indonesian, but I think making "the bridge gen" from ID branch is the right choice because, well, it's not hard to find Japanese members who can speak english, and same thing with english speakers who can speak Japanese, but it's really hard to find non-native Indonesian who can speak indonesian because we're kind of a so-so country with lesser global influence compared to Japan and US lmao, that's also why it's pretty common for us to be able to speak english, and japanese (aside from writing kanji) is kind of a quick pick-up for Indonesians due to so much similarities in pronunciation and stuffs! Also, Yagoo mentioned during the interview that the reason he picked ID as the second branch after JP instead of EN despite it being the most obvious best choice for global audience expansion is that he followed the steps of AKB48, he saw that japanese idol culture in ID is more prominent than in US which also why AKB decided to make JKT48 (ID's branch of AKB48). It's cool.

Gigi, Biboo and Kaela all have the silent hyperfocus gamer thing going on. if they lock-in, they can't really collaborate outside of other lockins (I could see rock-anvil-fist being a good Collab trio, but it might not be super talkative). Not sure who the fourth would be - maybe whoever the expert in Holo is (so it's like a show them the ropes, and then learn what the gamers can teach back once they master your level thing.) Sometimes that might not happen (eg. Goomba and rhythm games, Suisei and Tetris), but a lot of the time GrindFiStone would find something to give back.

Ollie is almost critical to cross collabs (alongside Kiara, who is similarly Collab loving and translation keen.) it's not that others don't have the ability to translate, but Kiara and Ollie live for collabs and don't mind translating, where a Kaela, Bae or Irys aren't as Collab keen, and Calli prefers to be the lone EN in JP collabs I've noticed. Not sure why, maybe it's an acceptance thing (if she's in a JP Collab without translation duties, the JPs have accepted her?)

⁠​​⁠ the “da” in “kaigai da” is the informal form of “desu” everything after it is particles that describe intention. “shi” is a particle you ascribe to a reason you have to say/do something, and “na” is a more casual form of “ne” which functions somewhat like “isn’t she” in English. So the full meaning, including the prior context: “Ollie can you tell her”, would be: “my reason being she’s from overseas isn’t she.” Hope that makes sense! I know you didn’t ask about the last bits but they are helpful to understand!

I think the reason Towa prefer Ollie to be the translator is because she knows Ollie is very fluent in Japanese and English. Kronii on the other hand is a maybe on being a translator since HoloJP rarely interact with HoloEN nowadays and the fact that Kronii is still a bit of an unknown on the Japanese fluency to the HoloJP talents.

@@vhscrust7872 In the past, when we only had gen 1, fans always forced Iofi to 'become the bridge for JP and EN or JP and ID'. In collabs involving branches, if Iofi didn't appear, they always said that 'Iofi didn't do her job well' - to the point that Iofi even has to apologize when she can't join collab as translator. That was really awful situation because Iofi actually has no formal obligations as translator for Hololive.
