It's funny, Mass was BORING when i was a kid, man was it ever. But after being protestant for 22yrs, and aching for God and never seeming to latch on the way i would have liked, the Lord brought me back to the CC and i reverted last year. Every single Mass now is the highlight of my week and a serious blessing. Largely b/c of how biblical the entire liturgy is, how reverent and purposeful the Mass is done, the prayers, the readings, the singing of a Psalm ... but then the Eucharist. There's a reason it's called a "Divine Liturgy". Nothing in the protestant realm comes even close to being as elevating to the soul as Mass. What a contrast from when i was a kid.

Same here brother. I went Protestant for three years. It felt good. But intimacy level when you submit yourself and worship God how He wants you to worship is out of this world. I believe this is Scott Han’s quote “Protestant look at the menu, Catholics enjoy the feast”

being protestant is a very good way to become catholic because you had the wisdom of Scriptures, thus you will appreciate the Mass. compared to a catholic who did not read the Bible, they cant even explain what it happening each liturgy.

Feels more like a weekly feel good social club to me. I’m not here to offend anyone but like what I said I’m old school and I like how things are done back in the old days.

When we ask God to hear our prayers we don’t even know what the prayer is because we can’t understand him. We’d skip his mass but the dang church keeps changing around who says mass at which time and WON’T TELL US so nobody knows how to get the good priest. It’s always boring. It’s very frustrating. We used to try to sit in the front so he could at least SEE what is happening, but his toddler years at Mass were very challenging. I truly wish that every Mass could e printed out on a flier, word for word, in order, including the readings. This could be so beneficial not only to hearing impaired, but to non-Catholics who might be visiting, and even to Catholics who just need a supplement to keep them focused. I take my grandchildren to Mass and i try to show the ones who are old enough to read how to follow along, but it is difficult to keep jumping around in the Missalette to figure out where we are! We did visit a church that did this and it made a HUGE difference, even to me. Could you in any way make this happen in your church? Even just by asking for assistsnce or being willing to type it out? One church that we visited gave my son headphones to help him follow along. I will pray for you that you find a way to be included. This could be your ministry God bless you!@@adedoyin_adewumi

Father, I mean no disrespect, you say that at the heart of all religions is "God's worship". Which is more comforting, a father who wants his children to worship him or a father who wants to be in union with his children in love? Did Jesus, according to the Bible, ask people to worship him or to follow him? So, which is it, to worship God or to be in love and dissolve in God. But as an ego, such love may not be possible because the ego self-centered and has to go and that is the sacrifice, by God's Grace. Paul frequently uses the phrase "in Christ". The baptized are the children of God and the unbaptized are.........chopped liver??? You say Jesus came to save us and stop but what is he saving us from in our daily life? Please don't just say sin. Maybe save us from ourselves??
@Windowsndoors6 ай бұрын
The problem is that you put the altar in a building when Jesus said true worshippers would not worship in some place but in Spirit and in truth. When His disciples tried to get Him to eat after the well He was full and said I have food you don’t know about. My food is to do the will of Him that sent me and to finish His work. What did the priests eat in the type and shadow? Jesus Christ ate His own flesh and blood as He lived. He was nourished by His own Love in Heaven. He was a mobile tent of meeting where men met and ate with God a meal for today. Hebrews 13:15-16 15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. 16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. What sacrifices please God? John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. Mark 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Do you want to know how I know your pope doesn’t have the Spirit? First: I can feel. Second: you all make your popes idols and put them behind glass but when a woman gets close enough to grab him and hold on he gets angry instead of feeling sorrow over causing her to feel that way about him and not about Jesus. Go look how angels and apostles treated men who bowed to them and worshiped them. They didn’t push them off and yell and slap. They lovingly corrected the people. God doesn’t slap people for trying to hold on to Him. Why try to get people to pray a sincere prayer but say don’t yell because you’ll scare the little old ladies? Maybe they need that shot of adrenaline. Have a sincere heart but make sure you’re civilized. You should read about the prophets and apostles. You got people lying naked on one side, men calling down fire on people, a guy outrunning a chariot, King David won’t kill a man who’s trying to kill him but beheads a man for killing that man, old prophets turning bears loose on people, meanwhile God’s in heaven pouring out plagues on a nation and destroying cities in front of little old ladies. Matthew 18:35 “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.” Matthew 5:28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. After being baptized in the Spirit I started seeing things as I prayed in tongues and would begin to weep without understanding why. I would cry uncontrollably over people I didn’t even know. I would cry every time I read the bible because His Spirit poured His love into my heart. I became one with Him and couldn’t pray a more sincere prayer than the one from His heart in my chest. He’s closer than a friend and it doesn’t make sense to call on anyone other than the God who reigns on the throne of your heart because that’s all you’ll get. I will never understand why the Catholic Church holds onto so many idols when Jesus Christ gave the world the Father they need. Pray to this person! Pray to that person! Go get this saint! God will surely listen to them! How about repent and then go to God yourself. GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WHOSOEVER WOULD BELIEVE IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. Read it over and over and over and over until it really sinks in that God loved people that much. He loved each individual that much. He desires that men would stop playing stupid games , worship idols and obey His Sone like Mary said and Go to Him. If anything I believe He ignores every single pray to any saint. You dishonor His Son and Mary by doing that. His love poured into my heart was a real experience. His anointing of the Holy Spirit on my life is the most valuable thing I’ve ever had and His presence feels better than the love of women. No man will ever be enough to penetrate to the depths of a woman’s heart that God does. Men love bodies and hurt souls. God loves souls and heals bodies. True worshipers worship in Spirit and in truth anywhere and everywhere. They commune with God in stores, the shower, in bed with their spouses, on the toilet, playing with their children and in giving time, money and energy to do all kinds of Good the Lord desires to do with their lives as they go. True sacrifice will be seen more easily outside the building because that’s where it’s hard to praise. Try praising when people hate you, reject you and Christians say God isn’t with you after you finally turned from sin. It feels impossible but He’s the only one who’s ever truly loved you and He makes you happy and takes away the pain.

This is where we really have a lot to learn from Protestant faith. I'm not saying they were right, but when they took out the middle men, they also took responsibility for themselves and their own faith. I think their theology is mistaken, but we have a lot to learn from how freely they worship. The Holy Spirit cannot move when Catholics are so overly buttoned up - just bowing and standing and regurgitating at set times, but not actually worshipping.
@lelarson99167 ай бұрын
Listen again to the beginning, to what Fr. Mike said about how Jesus instructed us as to how God wants us to worship. Protestants are worshipping how they want to worship rather than how Jesus taught. Recall the story he told about what his mother wanted for her birthday and what he and his siblings gave her. Yes, it's easy to feel excited and show enthusiasm from giving what you want to give, from worshiping through great music and great homilies, but we need to offer what God asks first and foremost regardless of all the other details. I love my Protestant brothers and sisters, but they are the kids who give a gift, wonderful as it is, that is what they want rather than what was asked for. Catholics have the right form, but we need to work on attitude, offering from the heart everything, both the good things and the bad in our lives, offering them up to God. When the gifts are brought forward, pile all your offerings on top. Give it all to God and choose to love Him even when you're not "feeling it." Learn to embrace sacrifice so that you can love even through the difficult times. That was my takeaway. Thank you, Fr. Mike! You help to keep me on track every day. I so need these reminders, especially when I'm in a dry spell.
@rhayman47096 ай бұрын
