Agree with you 100%. "First Class" was refreshing reboot, but as soon as FOX decided to lean on Jennifer Lawrences popularity and fame, it all went downhill. I couldn't stop shaking my head when they actually made Mystique the leader of the X-Men. Given that the X-Men in DP are their younger versions, was like... making Saruman the leader of the Fellowship of the Ring in TLOTR. They had freaking Sophie Turner on board, a great actress, who had proven her talent and nuance in GoT - and turned her into a pale plot device.

And they got Lucas Till casting wrong (the Alex summers actor) They should've cast him as Cyclops in X Apocalypse. I never liked the other young dude 😅Dude looked high or tired as fvck look at his eyes squinting 😂

This movie was a slap in the face, more so then the last stand, to X-Men fans. The way they handled the Phoenix story is infuriating. Not to mention mystique being the leader of the X-men! WHAT!!!!

I think Dark Phoenix stopped caring about sharing continuity with earlier and later X-Men films because it had Raven forget about the sacrifices Charles Xavier made for her and many other mutants in First Class and Days of Future Past, nobody explains why Magneto is not in jail after he helped Apocalypse kill a lot of people in the previous film (unless he had to hide out on that island for protecting mutants to get a new home again), and Dark Phoenix puts itself in canon discontinuity from the original X-Men trilogy from 2000, 2003 and 2006 by killing Raven and Jean Grey, who are still alive in all three of those movies!😡 Dark Phoenix never happened, and it wants us to know it. The only positives I can give Dark Phoenix for now are that it has the conviction to appease people who were upset with Raven and Jean Grey's actions and poor handling of their emotions by killing them off in the middle and at the end of the film to prove Raven wrong on what she said about changing X-Men to X-Women, and came up with its own ending and final-film-sendoffs for Beast, Charles Xavier and Magneto, when it knew that there was no way it could connect itself with the original X-Men trilogy which were better films before Dark Phoenix and it might even make us prefer The Last Stand more than we liked it one decade earlier.

The first problem is that FOX made a huge mistake giving the X-Men team those yellow jumpsuits. Their uniforms should have the ones we saw at the end of Apocalypse, just like the 90's animated series. The mutants Wolverine, Rouge and Gambit needed to be brought into X-Men: Dark Phoenix to complete the team. Also, Jubilee was supposed to come back for a bigger role in Dark Phoenix, but she was forgotten about. The villain of the movie should have been Sinister, he was a major threat in the 90's cartoon. He was going to be one to try to destroy the X-Men in this movie, but that never happened. FOX didn't need to redo the Phoenix saga again. If FOX had taken a piece of some storyline from 90's X-Men animated series, maybe the franchise wouldn't have died 4 years ago.

It's funny how they knew how to correct the awfulness of Last Stand but Fox turned their two movies to one and it ended up suffering the same fate

This is why Sony chose to split up Into the Spider-Verse's sequel storyline into two different films. THAT is how big and ambitious it is. One sequel storyline dives so deep into the concept of the Spider-Verse, it is too big for one film and fills the rest of the whole trilogy.

You did the best job I have seen from any reviewer of Dark Phoenix of dissecting every major thing that is wrong with this story, with how out-of-character Professor Xavier and Jean Grey were for being so dumb and reckless, and how out-of-character Raven and Beast were for being so pretentious and self-centered in how badly they handle their frustrations about something that makes them angry. Dark Phoenix is so lazily put together, it ironically becomes a bit more enjoyable when...damaging its own story so much by killing off Raven and Jean Grey is like watching a violent snake eat its own tale. I mean, eating its own tail. Dark Phoenix creates countless plot holes with the earlier movies by ruining many of its own characters, repeating the same storylines for them and sidelining and wasting other great characters, or selectively choosing to ignore other important past events when it wants to, and it even strikes itself from the canon of older X-Men movies that take place later in the timeline by killing off Raven and Jean, who are still alive in X-Men, X2, The Last Stand and the end of Days of Future Past. The only reason why I was not entirely let down by the ending of Dark Phoenix itself, since it felt like a proper ending for three minutes, is that it was at least honest with its own discontinuity with the original movies that take place later, when it tried to have a good sendoff for the few main characters who were still alive. Charles Xavier retired and Magneto offered him a new home in return for giving him a home once before, and Beast became the new leader of Charles Xavier's School For Gifted Youngsters and renamed it the Jean Grey School For Gifted Youngsters. I guess Dark Phoenix unintentionally became cathartic for people who hate toxic feminism, because it made Raven and Jean Grey the most unlikable heroes in the story so less people watching it would be sad about their deaths. So there may be some light at the end of this bad movie that emphasizes the Dark in Dark Phoenix, because the First Class-prequel cast's final film that gave up on having continuity with films that take place after it once it killed Raven off, pulled out its own concluding scenes to give Dark Phoenix's characters a somewhat satisfying ending, knowing there was no way it could connect to the original X-Men trilogy from 2000, 2003 and 2006 after it killed off Raven and Jean Grey, with Dark Phoenix leaving no special indication that they could just return from the dead with the same bodies, which SPOILER ALERT! First class is besides Logan one of my favorite x men movies fun fact, if in case you didn’t know dark, Phoenix was originally supposed to be a two-parter movie however, due to Disney I think getting the license or rights of X-Men. It was forced into one movie. That’s basically the gist of it

This movie sucks a lot I really hate how they character assassinated mystic and made her so unlikable I don't think it was necessary. Apocalypse has it's flaws like the villain being boring and dumb twists like quicksilver being related to magneto that goes nowhere. I will say it's impressive that there's only really 1 or 2 bad x-men movies, even the worst wolverine movie is actually so bad it's funny. Also idk why you're hopeful with marvel making x-men now, I know this video is a few years old but marvel is making nothing but shit except for spiderman and guardians 3. They more then likely will only make the x-men worse, I'm not looking forward to new x-men at all.

This movie was super slow and boring to sit through, this is the X-men movie with the least action that made the others great. Meanwhile X-men apocalypse is not the best either, but it was decent, and better than this garbage, and didn’t feel slow to me.
