This "race" to create more content brings a lot of stress and anxiety. It can work, but really...think about this. More time we expend creating and squeezing our brains and hearts, more stress and DISCONNECTION from real life is growing. Is a huge mental health threat to stick to the cellphone, and also a lot of empty content because of these gurus telling you need produce or create more. HAVE NO FEAR to explore the inner world and create from the heart. Creativity is one of the few things that is separating us from the machines. Go for the balance! After years of studying the people of content creation, the biggest fear I see is related to vanity metrics. People have taken a space made for creativity to a place where the numbers mean so much more than the creative expression. They're basing their success off someone else's idea of what it means to be "successful", forgetting (or not even innerstanding) that "success" is 100% subjective.

it's so nice to see your comment about creativity being so important to you.. one thing I'm finding is that i write songs with real heart to them but because i only post a new song every few months I'm finding it really hard to BE FOUND by people who WOULD love the types of songs i write (heartfelt songs about life, me and my guitar) the algorithm doesn't recommend me to people who might like my songs and i don't want to become a "brand" to chase views so I'm really not sure what to do TO get found by people who might like my songs when I've played ones like "I'm Not The Only One" live in bars and apartment parties where tough guys have cried at the lyrics (about wishing life could be good when we are good hearted to others) it sucks because i just want people who might love my songs to even just know about them but i just don't want to be a view chasing "brand" or to be doing videos every day i just want my songs to get heard I'm a bit like a Scottish Johnny Cash or Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd vibe.. i hope one day people who might like my songs find me but it sucks all this "chase views be a product" thing..i just want to be real.. I'm human.. i feel things. i write songs about the things we feel in life.. i hope one day things like that mean something

Theres a recipe for that. Make a burner ig account and just go ahead and talk to strangers on stories. Your fear is connected to ppl you know. And once you see how strangers react and you get comfy with cam, you will be able to do it in front of everybody. Another thing thats helps is you gonna die one day. I listened to this a few months ago when I was contemplating heading back out onto the streets to interview strangers for the online show I'd started a decade earlier but gotten away from to pursue other paths, projects, professional opportunities. As much as those other paths were what I thought "I should be doing", something deep down still felt like it was missing. I'd decided to honor that one day while out on a run and set out to go back to my show - though with trepidation - when I opened my phone to listen to a podcast while running and this episode popped up. I literally heard myself say out loud on the streets, "he's right, it's fear, and it's not worth not following a dream for" and reaffirmed my commitment to myself and my show.

Gary has given a lot of keynotes but he still manages to keep it fresh. It's the same message as usual but it seems as relevant today as it did ten years ago. Iteration and repetition may be the best kind of creativity. You don't really need a radically new idea to be creative. You need a good idea and then you just explain from a million different angles. Of course, this is a very hard concept to teach or learn. As usual, what Gary is doing is probably more instructive than what he is saying.

Great message. I broke through one for a day for an entire year (365 days in a row). Fear can be debilitating. Fear can stop us from doing what we truly want to do. The greatest lesson I learned during that year is that once we can take control of our fear rather than letting our fear have control over us, that's when we can experience our fastest growth. F.E.A.R. Faith Erases Anxious Reactions. When your fear is strong, your faith is weak. So when you're experiencing fear, tap into your faith ---- in yourself, in your mentors/coaches, into God. Tap into them to then Do It BECAUSE You're Scared. You got this.

I appreciated that they had the ability to self-reflect and were mature enough to apologize. This was her pattern. Took me a while to catch it. I told her that I appreciated the apologies but that I would no longer tolerate the pattern. How about instead of apologizing after a fight we don’t fight at all? We didn’t get past it. I felt like I was walking on eggshells for the whole relationship and this affected my self-confidence.

What hasn't been touched on is how putting yourself out there on youtube or other platforms can affect your personal life. Perspectives in society shift and change, and it can be hard to predict if what you say now will become socially unacceptable in the future, and come back to haunt you. It can also affect your career if you're working for employers, as your social media presence is looked at during background checks.

I’ve been there! Once you get more strategy in place you can definitely get faster! It just takes practice. Start with thinking strategically about your business and create a content strategy/plan if you don’t already have one. Then this strategic planning helps you when you film & create content so you ensure you can create engaging content that will work for many types of content (for different social platforms) from just one piece of long form content. Example: Think like you are chopping up a long movie into many short clips. Like when they use sound bites to promote Hollywood movies. That’s essentially what you are doing! Then lastly Automation helps you deliver that content to platforms over many months (by that method you look like you are posting many times daily 😉) This is an overly simplistic way it is only about 2 hours a day on average or 60 hours per month. You can also batch things and take a full day to plan and then 1-2 days to film everything. It all depends on how you like to work. 😉 Also, remember that now Gary has a team of 25 people following him around with cameras so he has lots of content to draw from & a team to create it. Like he says just film everything you do! Just keep going & once you have money to pay others you can outsource parts of the creation to get even faster at producing more. 😉 Good luck on your journey Shadrya!

Fair enough Gary, there is a lot of fear when it comes to producing content and people are somewhat controlled by fear so they don't put themselves out there as much as they should. Totally Fair Point. Having said that, on the flip-side, a lot of us don't want to be on social media having our voices heard. There seems like an infinite number of "influencers" who are shouting their message from the rooftop. What I see, from where I'm sitting, is a lot of noisy people that would probably be better off living a quieter life. 😳 Sure, if you're a super competitive person and enjoy spending your Saturdays trying to get a dollar off of a pink elephant plushie toy, you do you. In all fairness, Gary makes it clear that he wants everyone to do what they think is right for themselves. He's not saying that everyone should be super competitive and shout their message from a stage..... Or, karate chops some poor guy over an old Tonka toy at his family yard sale. So, the one person that will halfway read this comment, while they are presumably sitting on the toilet; they should ask themselves, "am I one of those super competitive people that will be happy in the Gary vee style of grinding through life?" maybe you are and maybe you're not but don't let some KZbin guru influence that decision. Gary once said, "I'm the type of person that would love to lose everything just so I can rise above the ashes like a Golden Phoenix." I don't identify with that statement, not even close, but I'm sure there are those that do. And if you guys identify with Gary, then you should grind it into high gear and make it to the top of that mountain. For me, I'll be sipping on tea and the rest of us losers will keep the lights on if you ever need a cup of tea, yourself. 🥳
