Why did the 530 Rioters only know about the lay offs the moment the CEO posted the announcement publically? They litterally didn't know they were getting fired untill the CEO posted the letter yesterday. Well, there is a reason why Riot didn't tell anyone in advance. Riot obviously didn't explian it in the letter but this all stems from what other companies did in the past. This is actually something very common in the tech/gaming industry. Riot is scared that if they would tell everyone in advance, they would likely sabotage the company or trade company secrets since they are all getting fired anyways. So the shitty but common practice these days is to fire everyone at once and closing their access to the developers portal to mitigate as much damage as possible. Does this justify this shit behavious? No but we can understand where all this comes from since this is a company afterall. Riot is giving bonusses to the emplyees, paying them for the next 6 months stuff like that. So if there is a right way to massively fire hundreds of employees without telling them in advance, I think this might be close to it.
