I’m a Miami fan since way back and I tried to tell people that Butler is not that guy…He’s not on the Lebron, KD, Harden level. There is a reason he was on 3 teams in 3 years…if he was that guy he definitely wouldn’t have bounced around like that. Also now there are reports that he and coach Spo butted heads a few times this season…Miami needs to go for a superstar in free agency

Nah, they didn't have enough. There are rumours that Butler ok'd the deal. But here's the thing, look at what Brooklyn gave up : four 1st rounders, and 4 pick swaps to Houston along wuth some players to get Harden. The truth was Miami never had the draft assets to give up on any Harden deal. They would've given up Herro, and Robinson and even Nunn, and Riley probably already talked to them about potentially being traded. They just didnt have enough assets.

Miami's future will really be decided depending on how Herro and Bam improves Bam needs to start shooting mids and 3s more since he's not the biggest center and him being able to shoot will really open up the heat's offense....while Herro needs to step up and take that PG role from Nunn and Dragic his playmaking will really be the main thing that can really open his offense up we know he can score but if he's able to playmake he can really start being that 3rd guy behind Jimmy and Bam

Miami Heat: 1. Problems: - Rebounding: The Heat allow a lot of offensive rebounds, which gives the rivals a lot of second chances. - Slow team: Offensively Heat allow rivals to organize well, which causes them to have to resort to many mid range shoots or threes. Defensively Heat allow a lot of 3 point shoots, because they are slow and small. They suffered a lot during the session against fast teams like Hawks, Kings, Hornets, among others. - Rotation: Nunn and Herro should play more together, instead of Duncan Robinson. Sometimes playing with Duncan is the same as playing with one player less. Nunn and Herro are better defenders and offensively they can create their own offense. Also, Bjelica was a good choice at the court (physique and long range 3), but he didn’t got enough minutes and the confidence. - Matchups: You can’t matchup Ariza and Giannis or Duncan with Middleton. Also, Bam vs Lopez and Giannis at the same time. - Inconsistency: The Heat was a team of streaks and many injuries. With 1 or 2 more wins, they could avoid the Bucks matchup, and then play vs a young team like Hawks, and after with 76ers, which would be easier rivals. - Bad luck: Avery Bradley was a great sign, but he was unhealthy. Then the Trade for Oladipo was good, but we got injury. 2. How to resolve the problems: - Get more Physical and Big: Heat got a new center (Omer Yurtseven) he should be starter and he could be like a version of Mark Gasol in a few years. Then put Bam at PF. Keep Dedmond (C) and Achiuwa (PF). - Revolution at PG / SG positions: Nunn and Duncan are RFA and several teams will make high bids for them, so it’s time to make a good trade for them. Duncan is a great 3 points shooter, but he only average 13pts and that’s low for a SG. In Nunn’s case, he’s a great shooter, but he’s too small and he’s going to have 26 next year, so I think the Heat can improve that position too. - Improvements: Bam (3 point shooting and more aggressiveness in the paint); Okpala (more confidence, he can be a mix version of Kawhi and Giannis); Achiuwa (he have the strength of Giannis, but not the athleticism); Herro (recover his confidence and shooting). - Release cap space: Ariza (12MM), Dragic (18MM), Iggy (15MM). These players are old and their contribution will be very little the following season. So, unless they accept veteran contracts, they’d have to go. 3. Free agency players options to watch out for: - Kawhi Leonard (if he decline his player option) - Kyle Lowry (only if he lower his salary claims) - Otto Porter Jr. (Versatility, 3s, defense) - Wayne Ellington (Great 3 point shooter to have in the bench + Max Struss) - PJ Tucker (have to take it away from the rivals) - Alex Caruso** (Great defender, heart and cheap) - Mike Conley (Great defender, PG, 3 point shooter) - John Wall (if he buy out) - Rudy Gay (good veteran) - Patrick Mills
@raylouis5437
@raylouis5437 3 жыл бұрын
I like your "resolve problems". I thought while watching the games that the Heat needed a big man at the 5 and move Bam to the 4 because Trevor Ariza vs Giannis was a disaster waiting to happen. I also like how you said Bam needs to be more aggressive because there were moments when Bam would have the ball at the free-throw line and Brook would just be standing under the rim and Bam wouldn't even look at the rim. I do think Achiwa is going to get more minutes next year because the Heat love to red flag young talent we seen it done with guys like Duncan Robinson, Rodney McGruder and Derrick Jones Jr also it doesn't help that Pat Riley doesn't like rookies. My only two problems with the Heat future is that 1 we might lose Duncan Robinson and Kendrick Nunn in free agency or if they do re-sign them along with Tyler Herro may dislike that they are getting less minutes because of Victor Oladipo. 2 we could lose the veteran leadership of Haslem, so releasing Dragic and Iguodala doesn't sound like a good idea.

“It’s just tough in the playoffs when your best players can’t shoot, your role players are unreliable from the outside, and your wing defense is shaky.” Damn. This could apply to the Suns against LA. CP3 is hurt, so he can’t run the offense, so it’s stagnant. Cam Johnson and Mikal Bridges are more sus than usual on D, Cam has been doing good against LeBron tho. And Jae Crowder? Well, the less said about him, the better. Add on the fact that they’re smaller than LA, and the series could effectively be over if they don’t win tomorrow. Which is sad, bc it didn’t and shouldn’t have went down like this. But that cp3 injury changed everything.

@@javanomari I mean, yeah, but they won game 1 pretty decisively for a reason and he was out for the majority of that game too. They were down by 1 with a chance to take the lead in game 2 with less than 4 minutes left to play. And game 3 was more than not hitting shots more than anything else. They had a lead for a majority of the second quarter and should’ve went on a run but just couldn’t. So if you’re trying to say to theyre still not able to hang with LA bc of their size and defense you’re wrong. Every game has been winnable and competitive until the second half of game 3. And even then, once they started hitting their shots they dwindled LA’s 21 point lead down to 9. I’m just tired of hearing and seeing narratives that they’re frauds cus they’re not.

Surely this Lakers squad wouldn’t be struggling as much as they have been if they’re a tier above Phoenix. That is unless, the Lakers aren’t that good this year. Crazy idea, I know. Suns win game 2, a game they barely lost, and this statement is even less true. Hell, if the refs don’t give AD the whistle for that game on some ticky tack calls (17 free throws before garbage time, the entire Suns team had 20 at that same point) and that game is entirely different.

I think butler isn't performing as well as last year is because of the removal of good shooters from their lineups. In the past, they had Kelly olynyk and Meyers Leonard at the center and crowder all shooting 40% last season. This year, the heat lineup only has 2 shooters shooting above league average in Duncan and Dragic in their starting lineup. Bench players like Tyler hero has also deproved significantly from last year percentage wise. Unlike in the past where teams had to stay home, leaving butler plenty of space to iso and operate, teams can sag off and clog the lanes. This was obvious when watching games from last year playoffs and in the bucks series this year. Of course, having imo the best defensive guard in the league in Drew guarding butler all series doesn't help at all.

It's actually more simple than people think: Had a rough way to the finals with a very short off-season. They lost an important player in Jae Crowder in FA and traded away an important role player in Kenny Olynyk to get Victor Oladipo who had to sit out the rest of the season. Yes we talked trash about the Heat declining Herro in a Harden-Trade or in a Lowry-Trade but they also had half their team sit out the first month due to COVID. Remember back then the rule and restrictions were super hard.

What people aren’t factoring in is the fact the NBA condensed 2 seasons together and neither teams who made the Finals last year was able to make it out of the 1st round. So Butler, Bam, Lebron and AD were all burnt out next playoff time. The supporting cast have no excuses, their minutes weren’t like these other guys, their time on the floor was managed better. Butler as a primary slashing is getting beat up every drive to the rim and with the condense schedule he doesn’t have time to recover.

Cali, you said everything I said after watching every game that series. While the Bucks showed out, everything started with us as a team 💯. Next year, Jimmy needs to be more aggressive and open up the floor with becoming more of respectable 3pt shooter. Bam is on the up with his abilities, but needs more aggression too. But I think we also need more creativity as an offense so moves will be made 💯💯

great analysis! probably the best analysis from every vid related to this topic. heat, as a team, stagnated. they thought oladipo will/could save them. this is why heat panicked and traded for 'dipo even though they could've probably snagged him in free agency in the offseason 'cause they knew they were in trouble. jimmy played terribly, bam was passive (almost like he wasn't trying), herro regressed (but i don't think it's fair to compare herro's stats from last playoffs to this current playoffs 'cause of the small sample size of just four games. plus herro averaged less minutes this year in the playoffs) and the team overall were terrible on defense and subpar on offense. it's almost like heat wasn't ready for the postseason. huge credit to the bucks, though. bucks improved significantly, especially on defense and outside shooting. portis and forbes were two guys heat wasn't prepared for (but should have). i feel like the bucks' adjustments during the offseason were for the sole purpose of beating this heat team which turns out wasn't as hard as they thought 'cause the heat didn't improve much from last season. bucks v. nets should be an excellent series. can't wait.

No big man support for the skill players was the problem. For some reason management traded their only true 7 footer in Olnyck before the playoffs. What did they think was going to happen against the giant lineup of Lopez and Giannis? They did what they wanted, there was nobody to guard them. Miami needed to stock up on more big bodies to keep Lopez/Giannis off the boards, even journeymen bigs would have been better than none at all. The skill guys exhausted themselves trying to control the big men of Milwaukee. Even Crowder would have helped, he's not a 7 footer but is physical, but they traded him also. GM from Miami should be fired after this debacle.

You were right about most of the reasons why the Heat faltered this season... But its unfair to compair butler's scoring to forbe's since jimmy was guarded mostly by giannis and forbes was guarded by the weakest Heat defender..
@lastgiddon
@lastgiddon 3 жыл бұрын
You will never convince me when you compare one of the main scoring options to a role player. That doesn't take circumstances into consideration. Is the role player subjected to the same conditions as the main player? The answer is no, no team in their right mind will focus their main defence attention on a role player, it will be the scoring options, note that scoring options can come off the bench too (sixth man). This is why teams with well rounded scoring contributors are very hard to beat because teams usually send bodies to the scoring option.

Heat had 4 good defensive bodies to throw at Giannis, with Butler, Bam, Crowder & Iguadala. They lost Crowder and Iguadala which made Butler and Bam exert more effort on defensive at the expense of the offense they provided the previous year. At the same time Giannis dealing with 2 instead of 4 solid defenders, made it easier for him too

What If Miami gets Derrick Rose for next year ? Or Maybe someone like Kyle Lowry ? A good playmaking PG who can create his own shots as well if required ? Only other thing they can do is get Kawahi and make Jimmy Butler the full-time PG for the time. He doesn't like shooting anyways, he can be a defensive PG like Ben Simmons.

Butler can never be the best player on a team who are serious about winning a championship. He was never the best player at the 76ers nor at the Timberwolves. To be a serious contender you need min of two superstars. Butler has to be the third scoring option. What Butler does better than most others is bring in all of the other intangibles.

@ebok33643 3 жыл бұрын
@not even excluded Don’t get fooled by that. That was a very unique bubble. That was also the first season with Butler with all fired up. This happens all the time. New guy come in. Butter starts yelling and everyone follows. Second season comes along. Butter keeps yelling. Same old, same old. Lose the effect. Sometimes annoying. No real go to superstar who can get me 30. Frustrated. It eventually goes the other way 👉 Miami
@ebok33643
@ebok33643 3 жыл бұрын
@not even excluded I’m sure you have watched enough basketball to know that teams perform very differently when on road vs at home next to their screaming fans. Name one team that has a significantly better away record when compared to their home record? Take the home/away out different teams will perform very differently. Miami performed exceptionally well in a neutral location. Others didn’t. 76ers were a great example of dominating at home that season and useless away from home (I think first to last). Miami may have done the same this year if it was a bubble. However, second time around other teams may have adapted better this year with last year’s experience. So it was a very unique situation that gave a team that adapted well and faster than most to get the edge last season. That gave a very false sense of security this season. We have seen the result.
