She's right. I first fell in love with Ireland because of the beautiful landscapes in the movie.

She was a great actress, I like most all of her movies but my top favorite was the parent trap and I also really like this one because she was in her native country.

I read the short story before I saw the movie. I loved them both. I like Wayne's Westerns, but this one ranks at the top of my list.

It’s John Wayne’s best acting performance.

It’s definitely a classic movie. I think I will watch it again over the Christmas holidays. I lived on Clare island in co mayo for 6 months nearly 30 years ago. It’s a beautiful part of Ireland. I live in south co Derry. We have the sperrin mountains near we’re I live. It’s nice here also. I Enjoyed the complimentary twist in the story. 👍

This film is all about whats "right" in a relationship with 2 people of the opposite sex and how they 'make their way' to each other. I have always been a materialistic person because my family on either side grew up with "Nothing!" So any piece of glass, momento, or picture from my grandparents, mother & father was precious to me. My Brother who inherited our parents home with me, was more financially sucessful than me. He has big money in his bank account, house & cars paid in full. While I took care of my parents until they died, medical calamties and all, 54 years I lived in my parents house. My brother 6 months, years ago. My brother had me evicted to sell said home, sheriffs removed me & my dog with the clothes on my back, in winter. My brother just had an estate sale of all MY worldly possesions. (His possesions removed 2 yrs earlier, when our mom died.) He's keeping all that money, thinks I owe him for lawyer fees to remove me from my home. In The Quiet Man when Maurern Ohara says, "with all my things about me!" And describes them..... I so identify with all she said. My life is forever changed.

Maureen O Hara was definitely the star of The Quiet Man. Would it have it been so memorable as a story or non story without the haunting melody of Inishfree, . Written by Dick Farrely.. Though no credits appear with his name. Wayne was typecast as a cowboy by that time but he added a big name to the film. Lord Killannin described it as a western love story. There are uncomfortable elements in it such as Wayne dragging O Hara along the ground, and she offers him a stick to beat her. !!!. The brawls are not the most edifying parts. If they were "of the day" culture , best left behind. The scenery of course is wonderful

The uncomfortable elements were excepted behavior based on the time period of the movie, nothing more nothing less.
