that fun feeling goes away when you travel, when i was the manager of a Harley dealer in western Massachusetts when the Livewire truck was making the tour to dealers, and because i was a long term manager they let me take one for a weekend and i come to the seacoast of NH where i live now, on my softails or road kings this trip takes 3 hours, 1 hour Northampton Ma to Keene NH, 2nd hour Keene to Concord NH, final Hour Concord to Portsmouth NH on the Maine border on the live wire the same trip took just shy of 2 days Granted this was the livewire protypes and there were almost no charging stations back then 1st stop we waited for a full charge and it took just shy of 6-7 hours, then in leg 2 and 3 we did shorter charges and shorter distances between stops and it still was taking almost 2 hours charge time for about 30 miles tops at the posted 50mph speed limit and i had to use a Vacation day to get back, that's 4 full days to do a trip that my own personal bikes could do in 6 hours

Why would you take that bike for that trip? That's like me taking a Ferrari up a mountain and complaining about how awful it is. That's the complete opposite of what the bike was made for.

I have a 2021 Road Glide. When it was brand new, I hit a large piece of timber (larger than a 4X4) dead on while going 70 mph. the bike went airborne as if I was in a Baja bmx event. I trashed both wheels and not a scratch on the bike. For cruising, I prefer a heavier bike; however, s sport bike might be better suited for city commuting, etc..

I have not had the privilege of riding a Live Wire, or any more street or "naked" bike for that matter, but as far as the riding position and engine sizes are concerned, I'd say the Live Wire is all motorcycle. Given its range, ease of handling and responsiveness, as riders have expressed, I'd say it'd be perfect for local commutes. I'm excited to watch for the advancements of technology that will hopefully one day allow for a bike that would satisfy the requirements to fall under Harley's Grand American Touring class.

Windshield scuff: I've suffered that same event in SD during the rally. Few people encounter it but the but that is a result of the Stealth Dakota Steel Moth. It has heavy hybrid alloy wings, flies up to 45 mph, drinks motor oil; and will definitely ding up your shield. The good news for you sensible "function over form" bikers with effective windshields; you should survive the rare encounter with the Steel Moth. A handful of [Harley riders] (mostly dynabros; dynabros are not bikers) have been decapitated by a Steel Moth to the neck. No shit. True story.

in the UK I started to have a look at the change over laws -currently it says that no new cars powered by petrol or diesel after 2030 - including hybrids -which isn't far away. Electric charging points are being fitted in car parks and motorway service stations, etc, all over the place. Bikes are different - it looks like all new bikes up to125 cc must be electric by 2030 and over 125cc by 2035. As these dates get nearer who knows - there are already calls for delays to the date. I'm also not sure how existing cars and bikes will be affected - I suppose it depends on how long petrol is available at a reasonable price after the main new car market becomes electric and non electric powered vehicles become fewer and fewer

Hi Jess, great video. I'm a Londoner living in Paris, France. I've owned loads of ICEs in both cities. I switched last year to the Zero FXE to be able to continue to park free! The FXE is an incredible urban commuter with everything in the sweet spot, and weighs just 135kg with 106nm of torque. Also a giggle machine. But I've been looking at the Livewires, especially this Del Mar, which is supposed to be available here as of this September. Very excited to test it, although by commute is through very dense traffic and mainly involves tight lane splitting🤣

That Del Mar, "looked nice". However based on your video, the mileage isn't great at all. Full charge 100% Demo was 15 miles (approx.) When you returned it was 78% (lets call it 75ish%) 30 mile ride would take you down to 50ish% 45 miles would be 25ish% 60 miles...start looking for a charger. Of course, going up and down hills, wind, and playing around in the different modes plays a factor in how many miles that the Del Mar can go. That's going to be a no from me on that bike.

The charging stations may be getting better as far as faster charging time but that faster charging comes with a cost. When rapid charging those batteries the lifespan drops of very quickly. Unless someone has money to burn and don't mind replacing the battery bank every year at a cost of more than the bike cost to begin with, no they NOT the future. Besides that those batteries are NOT environmentally friendly.

Electric Vehicles are a Con job on people who didn't learn from history. in 1884 there were several Electric cars and motorcycles, but several years later the Internal combustion engine was invented and the EV's were Dumped like a Bad Habit, with Electric unless plugged in that always lose power, in a gas car or bike you only lose what you use, if you put 6 gallons of gas in your Road King and park it, 3 months later it will still have 6 gallons of gas, An EV let sit for 3 months in a new england winter and you'll come out in the spring to a dead battery unless you maintain it all winter. the EV you lose miles every time you use a turn signal or brake light or headlights drain your mileage, in cars it's even worst if you are running your heater or defroster you are seriously dropping your mileage. Thus why our Great Grandparents Dumped the EV, and they only reason it's coming back is the Climate change LIE !! it still has all the problems they did in the 1800s and none of the advantages of the Internal combustion engine
