Hey, People and car lovers. Quit bad mouthing Megiuar' s Ceramic Hybird wax. Read the damn directions. I have texted here on KZbin how to make it work for your car. I tested it 1.5 months ago! I use it in my detailing business. You are using it wrong! Don't put out bad info on this product. It works. Stop using it wrong. If you need to find out more about how to use it ask me and I will tell you or I will make a KZbin VIDEO. Then show you how. Just because you can't read a label or directions don't blame the product. I don't get paid by Meguiars for my detailing work! I know how to make it work like it should. So please quit lying about Meguiars Ceramic Hybird wax. I have it on both my own cars and it really works. It shines and last a long time. Both my cars sit out and are over 16 years old. When it rains it still sheets off. If your car gets dusty just hose it off and dry it off. That simple! Shawn

I am a chemist. Well done, you got it pretty much right. The product does not contain SiO2, but neither do "ceramic" coatings. All of these products contain a silica-oxygen-carbon polymer that is non-hazardous and therefore doesn't appear on the SDS. I suspect that the base compound is a polysiloxane. The active compound adheres to the paint or clear-coat. The second and subsequent applications adhere better and better as a hydrophobic surface is built up. "Ceramic" is a bit of a misnomer created by marketing departments. Real ceramic structures are made by firing in a kiln. I predict (you heard it here first) that you'll soon find "titanium hybrid waxes" or "ceramic titanium" as the next big thing. TiO2 is a good absorber of UV light. Nano particles of TiO2 can be incorporated into siloxanes. But it still won't be a titanium ceramic. By the way, I do use this product. It makes the paint on my blue car look like a deep pool, and gives excellent beading.

Thanks for the info and I am glad to hear that you liked the content! I would be very curious but I could see hearing about a ceramic titanium in the future and that is some good and interesting info you gave on that! Thanks for sharing! 🐝

Dried silica powder (e.g. concrete) can dry things out, but not in this form. True ceramic coatings chemically cure and bind to the paint. They create a solid barrier. Nothing comes in, and nothing comes out (in a perfect world). That's its whole purpose. It can't possibly dry something out. There are many different forms and uses for silica. Meguires also markets it as safe on all vehicle exterior surfaces. My only concern is that it may smear on glass overtime, from the wipers

I use this stuff myself and I LOVE IT!!! NOTE: I found that after you've done the first coat and dried the car, go back and re-wet the car, spray another coat on, let it sit for about 45-60 seconds then come back and spray with a strong stream of water. You'll find that the beading increases. Then, just dry the car again and the shine is incredible. My neighbors saw me use this and now they are hooked on using it as well. The water beads on my car so well, the last time it rained, there were lots of little beads of water on my car. I was heading out of town after the rain stopped and I got on the interstate, the wind from driving 60-70 mph actually dried my car. There was no water, no streaks, no water marks, nothing! I just ordered a stockpile of this stuff online and will continue to use it as long as Meguiar makes it!

I apply HCW dry, one light spray per panel, and a spray on a MF and wipe in, then wipe off just like any other spray wax. It's performance is boosted like crazy, and I barely use 30-50ml of product per car. Also the gloss levels and slickness are greatly increased when applied dry. @MeanBee3923 жыл бұрын
That is a good question. I found it to last around the 2.5 month mark but was starting to diminish pretty quick and would need to be reapplied to keep the protection going.
@ProXcaliber2 жыл бұрын
I know this is an old comment but thought I'd chime in since I've been using this product for about 2 years now. The product duration varies a lot depending on the conditions outside and whether or not the car is kept inside a garage or stays parked outside most of the time. If you live in a place that snows and your vehicle often encounters a lot of road salts then do NOT expect this product to last that long with a single application (I would say about 1 month with a greatly diminished performance from the first application). However, if you live somewhere where it is mostly sunny year-round and hardly snows if at all, you can see it last anywhere from 2.5 to 3 months with a single application. The purpose of this product as I've come to learn is to maintain it by reapplying it at least once every month, whether it be the method described on the bottle for reapplication or by applying it as if it is the initial base coat. I've personally apply it like a base coat each time and after a while of doing so I've noticed that it is almost builds "layers" of itself on the surface of your paint. It tends to perform better the more you use it over time. I get lazy so I usually only wash my car once a month and reapply during that time and have had excellent results, would highly recommend.
@salvatorecerniglia6964 жыл бұрын
Nice work but can you please use a different color vehicle next time. The white hides a lot of what you're trying to show. After you applied the wax the two ways and rinse it off it's hard to see the results. The white seems to blend it out and it makes it hard to see. Other than all of that, that was a good review and I appreciate it - a good job well done! Thank you.

Tried this product today $13.97 at Wal-Mart. I used less than a half a bottle on two cars that sit outside all the time. I am 58 years old. I want to wash and wax two cars in under 2 hrs. This product let's me do that. Today is 5-20-19. I applied the Highbird wax with a microfiber sponge. Spraying it on the sponge. Washed car! Rinsed soap off. While the car was still wet. Sprayed the sponge with the wax. Applied it both ways on each panel over the whole car. Then hit each panel with large amounts of water. Then put a second coat of Hybird wax again. Then more water. Then dried the whole car with micro fiber cloth. My 2005 Taurus never looked so Good. It shined like never before. Parked it out front an then did my second car. The same way! 1 hr 45 minutes. Tops. The second car was white. It brighted the white up. The car has factory chrome rims. I applied the wax on them without spraying the brake rotors. They shined up real nice. Now, I need to see how long the beading and shine last. Really like the how fast it took to do both cars. I use to apply Nu Finish with a orbitor machine. Don't want to do that any more. Even though it lasted a year. Shawn

Great video Bee! These products are simple to use, cheap and incredibly effective and that threatens a lot of people for a lot of different reasons. From my experience, this and its cousin, 303 touchless sealant, are game changers. As a pure lark I put the 303 version on my wife's traverse after just washing it (no prep at all) and 30 days later I am still blown away by the shine, slickness and how clean it is staying. The rear-ends of Chevy Traverses get filthy just going around the block and yet, hers is now staying remarkably clean. Nothing seems to stick to the paint not even bird droppings which largely try to run off. Cleaning it has been a total breeze. After not touching it for a while, I was able to do a quick waterless wash on it and only needed 1 microfiber towel folded in 4s and when I was done 15 minutes later it looked like it was just waxed.

I like this review because its telling the truth. Its a cheap product that uses ceramic properties and seems to do exactly what you would expect at this price point. Everyone gets butt hurt because apparently you can only use the word "ceramic" if your paying a shop $500 to apply a ceramic coating. If you buy this product.... You know exactly what to expect.

Thanks! Exactly and what's not to love about a product like this with an awesome price point. I’m a detailer for over 16 years. Ceramic coating is great. But there’s a flaw. In order to keep it lasting for years. You better have a garage and more money for hand washing to keep its hold. If not you won’t last a year with ceramic coating. This is a marketing tool use by the higher ups to make us detailer make more money. And them more money. I will let you know the facts. It’s not worth it. Get a paint correction. Use a sealant and proper regular washes.
@MeanBee3923 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing and you are exactly right. A lot of my customers always want a ceramic coating because that's all they hear about so I ask them how they take care for their car and its the normal answer of a car wash ever month or so. So I always steer them away from a ceramic coating because with maintenance like that they will not last and it then becomes a wast of money for them. I never up sale to a customer like a lot of places around me like to do. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@pandassudsnshine41253 жыл бұрын
@@MeanBee392 anytime. Proper care is better than ceramic or whatever comes out later. I educate my customers/friends with real world answers for them. I tell them have your seen cars from 50 plus years still looking amazing before ceramic coatings? They say yeah. I ask them how do you think that is? I tell them proper care. A wash and good wax goes a long way if you do it every month. And a polish/buff job once a year with a good sealant.

Isn't the windshield on the truck behind you made out of SiO2? Wouldn't you consider that dangerous if a big enough piece were to hit someone? Or if there was a sharp edge? I can't believe they'd leave dangers like that out of the MSDS. Next thing you know, driving a car will be considered dangerous, and no one bothered to make a warning label.

The beading actually isn't that great; true beading stands each drop up via electrostatic repulsion, while here the drops just lay and spread slightly, very average for any other brand and variety of wax since 1958. The application process seems odd, almost intentionally invented by a marketing guru, to invoke a "special" quality, akin to hand-grinding your coffee beans one cup at a time, which creates a stronger psychological confirmation bias, about the value of the result. What I care about is a) ease of application, in full sun a plus; b) safe for black trim, all surfaces, no white residue; c) longevity of protection, 6 mo. to a year preferably, because most every geek will re-apply by then anyhow. Pricey custom jobs just seem like scams, with zero guarantees, so DIY 1-2 times a year is the standard. So far, I cannot fault ICE wax and until an actual outdoor exposure test is seen, these tests are pointless.
@MeanBee3925 жыл бұрын
Beading stands up and gets tighter because of low surface tension also. For a $15 bottle personality it beads good. I did use it on trim and on plastic with no issues of white streaks of residue but I know it wasn't applied in the sun. I think this would have no problem being applied in the sun but they probably put that so people dont have a bad experience with the product. Me personally I would feel 100% safe doing it in direct sun light. As for longevity that's what I am testing now and so far have a video on 3 weeks so if you would like to check that out please do. Thanks for watching and commenting.

So you like being lied to? As for ceramic being a general term, not in the car detailing side of ceramics. Meguiar's "advanced SiO2 hybrid technology" that delivers ceramic wax protection hyperbole is to fool people with using ceramic in the products name and description. If HCW was a true ceramic coating, you would be tossing your towels in the trash after every application and the sprayer nozzle would get clogged up if you don't clean it out. Irritates me with these companies misusing the word ceramic in vehicle protectants, it's the big buzz word being used to fool people right now. You keep buying this HCW crap and having to apply it at every wash, you will eventually dump it. If you want a better product at a cheaper price, Turtle Wax Ice Seal N Shine puts HCW to shame and you won't have to spray it on after every wash either. Have a great day.

I honor you opinion on this product. That is very true "ceramic" is a term that is being tossed around a lot in the detailing world right now. My white Mustang never gets washed or wet, just wipe it down with Spray Wax after a drive to remove dust and bugs. I ran out of my usual Mother's Spray Wax & thought I'd try this, since there was no Mother's at the store. I simply applied to a microfiber cloth and rubbed it on, then buffed it off. Seems more like a thin liquid wax. Didn't notice any difference in surface or shine. No idea about beading ! 😁 I might use a damp applicator next time. I read elsewhere it streaks badly after rinsing and is a pain to buff out.

@@MeanBee392 On my truck, I did the hood and rear panel with a damp cloth and the rest per Meguiars. The Meguiars method definitely resulted in smaller beads and better shedding on the vertical panels than the cloth application. But both work well. My drying towel got very wet and I did get some noticeable dull swirls when it dried, which required some effort to remove with a truly dry towel. Have had same issue with NuFinish, so no biggy. Waiting to see durability now. The Hybrid Ceramic Wax seems to work very well. I went through several severe downpours followed by sunshine on the interstate and the truck still looks clean and shiny! It blow dried really well!

With all due respect to an "Average Guy" perhaps you may want to refer your viewers to the MSDS sheet of Si02 before saying it is harmless. According to what I have read even if vaporized this can cause problems. If it is suspended in a liquid and either inhaled or hits your eyes it can cause irritation. Of course that is from US Research Nanomaterials, Inc. A lot of manufacturers says things are harmless until they are not, Round Up is what first comes to mind. I think applying something like CQUK with an applicator is fine and top it with a Caranuba but spraying this chit and breathing it while using is no bueno IMHO
@MeanBee3924 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting and making a tasteful comment and not just going off the deep end. Almost everything is an eye and skin irritant and there is such a small amount of SiO2 in this product it is not going to be harmful that's why it is not listed on the SDS sheet. I do under stand where you are coming from about spraying it and breathing in the mist but than again the air now days that we breath is harmful. On a side not a farmer doing field work has higher chances of getting silicosis than and average person does by using this product. Once again I do appreciate your comment and that you were not just going off the deep end.

very disappointed. Which side has a nicer polish. Water beading is not important to me but having a great polish is. Why use a white vehicle when a dark vehicle would show if swirl marks, tiny scratches, faded paint, dull paint have been eliminated. Maybe I just don't understand what the purpose of beads of water mean.

So, what if the water you rinse with is hard water and causes spotting? Usually, when I clean my truck I'll wash and soap it down, dry it then come back with another product which is wet and a microfiber towel to wipe off most of the hard spots. If I use this product the way Mcguires suggests I would have hard water spots with my newly sprayed/waxed car.
@MeanBee3923 жыл бұрын
It works very well with hard water from keeping it from spotting but you will need to dry it off right away. The best thing to do with hard water is to use a drying aid like this product or another of your choice and get it dries as soon as possible. Hopefully that is helpful and thanks for watching and commenting! 🐝

I wasn't saying that you were hating I was just saying I know there are a bunch of haters out there. Your comment didn't offend me and I am sorry if mine offended you.

I honestly do it your way every time.. spray it directly on the vehicle and I spread it in a crosshatch pattern.. I let it sit for a min or 2 then buff off with a dry Micro.. I do this a day before I go anywhere cause it makes me feel better to let it set(or cure) and it does a fantastic job.. we had a hell of a good rain storm last week got out of work and people thought it just rained around my car.. My car was dry by the time we got out... but I also applied Nano Bond Diamond Nano ceramic coating with a 9H Hardness 2 weeks before.. which is absolutely awesome.... thanks for the video and the review

Thanks for sharing your experience using this product! I personally think that is the best way of applying it and letting it have that day to cure is a very smart thing to do to let the SiO2 property's cure. I also think you using this on top of your ceramic coating is a great idea to help keep that protective layer healthy and refreshed using this as a topper. I have never used that ceramic coating but it sound like it gave you great results and blew everyone's minds at your work lol. Thanks for watching and commenting! 🐝

@@MeanBee392 yes sir.. It sure did.. I tell you it's has been great makes the car easy to clean and is always shiny.. I mean the car is so slick anything you put on it slides right off.. then you top it off with Maguire ceramic wax hybrid.. O MAN.. Its the truth... to me Nano Bond ceramic top coat and Maguire hybrid ceramic wax is the best 1 2 punch for protection.. I can only imagine what that would look like on a fresh brand new or Newer vehical paint job.. My paint is a little weathered an wore.. Its a 2008 and has over 182000 Mi on it.. but with the right ACDelco touch up paint and clear coat clay bar polishing sealants an the Ceramic coatings it came out out the most beautiful crystal red I could get without needing crazy amount of money i dont have to have it professionally redone

The reviewed product is average at best. Meguiars Carnauba wax is awesome, BUT Turtle wax - Ice Seal & Shine destroys Meguiars ceramic wax hands down...
@MeanBee3924 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely correct the Seal and Shine is an amazing product! Thanks for watching and commenting!

Will I get silicosis if I apply this to my vehiakle?
@MeanBee3925 жыл бұрын

what I recommend is you watch the video with the factory rep showing how to properly apply this product. What you did on both sides is totally wrong as per the factory rep. You used way to much product. JS

That's not true I did apply it just like the directions on the bottle say but thanks for watching and commenting!

The manufacturer says you don’t need a base coat unless your car doesn’t have any wax or anything on the car. Plus you used way to much. You need to watch how Mcguire’s does it that whole hood only needed to have about four squirts per side
@MeanBee3925 жыл бұрын
The base coat is your most important layer so you should always do it first. I know I did and after using it I found that out a little bit goes a long ways!
