great tip on Better Health.What helped me the most was I volunteered to speak to new Cancer patients. My reasoning was I had no one to speak to prior to my throat cancer surgery. And when a new patient sees that they are not alone in this it really helps. They recover faster knowing there is life after cancer! Keep up the good work Kid-0, Proud of you both!

so, the Code D that blew up, I;ve seen you use that for a while now and the nylon in the sail material has been pout through a lot. If it were me, id replace it with a true code 0 made with a heavier laminate material and thats the in between sail ...(genny, code 0, assym)
@CalicoSkiesSailing5 ай бұрын
Agreed we are in the process of replacing it, we considered laminates but decided to replace with the same material albiet a heavier grade nylon. We didn't want to lose the light air performance, laminates were heavier than nylon. Also we wouldn't have the ability to repair minor tears in the laminate in far off places. It's all a compromise! I think ultimately we may have to replace on a shorter time frame bc our heavy usage👍

If it's any consolation, we blew out a 1 year old Gennaker on a 2 year old boat in last year's ARC . . . As did at least 1 other boat. Too much wind. Should not have had it up. We limped the last 1/3 of the way across on main and genoa, in much lighter conditions when really could have used a Gennaker. So you're in good company at least.

These days we need all the help we can get....Wishing you 2 a speedy comfortable crossing!🎉

Let’s go to the up to date life. You are lazy. You could be one of the top channels. You tell good stories Stop nonsense.😢
@CalicoSkiesSailing5 ай бұрын
We are one of the most up to date channels by far, actually. This is now 5 weeks ago in real time. The timing ebbs and flows because sometimes we film more and sometimes less. So when we arrive into the Marquesas it will speed up a bit. Anyway, I don't like when content gets too far behind myself but for a big undertaking like the Pacific crossing what it means for the viewer is you get to see more of the actual passage. Think about it, 20 mins once a week is something like .1% of our annual life! So with that math the only way we could be real time is if we filmed far FAR less and had the sole goal of filming 20 mins of content each week regardless of the contents subject (and we edit for several days a week so that would get boring fast!) The other tricky part is that we can't plan filming, it happens organically so there are a lot of challenges to overcome with respect to being far from real time. In any case I won't call out other channels but of the ones I follow I can't think of one thats anywhere close to us with respect to timeline. One other interesting thing, we edited on this passage which is another thing most channels don't do. That is one of main reasons this content is as close to real time as it is. Happy you are here with us and also happy to answer questions!! KZbin can feel like quite the smokescreen sometimes I'm sure.
@julianbatcheler99705 ай бұрын
@@CalicoSkiesSailing personally, for me, you are already one of the top three sailing channels… and you inspire me. If you were as big as La Vagabond you would probably be basically a business by now like them. I stopped watching the channels who all went off and got brand new catamarans. They tend to lose the plot… mentioning no names… a channel which used to be very much about the sailing… this week spent time fixing and bitching about the ice machine not working on their new million dollar cat. I am hoping Delos and Nahoa can both break the mould and transition to new cats without it being ‘omg our ice machine is broken’… for me that ice machine summed up where sailing channels go wrong.
