Great video this! No drone shots, no happy music tracks, just a minimalist approach, thanks. Yes, I read all that, but I don't click emoji's...they're lame. As a boat owner/builder 9meter folding foam and carbon trimaran I can say small and light is beautiful. I do far less maintenance than any yachty I've ever met, and I go more places. Plus, We can pull her up on the beach with a few inflatable fenders, a lot of line, some blocks and minimal effort almost anywhere which makes life way better. And here is a little story for you, just to put a period on my point. Two weeks ago we got caught up in 60 knots while we were hanging on a mooring in a small cove. 2 am, we started dragging so I fired up the outboard to get out to a safe place to drop our trusty anchor. Sadly we bounced off a rock on the way out which resulted in the loss of the outboard into the drink. Long story short, due to the light weight and small size, the two of us were able to fend off the rocks for a few hours in terrible gusts and in total darkness, get to safety, and soon there after repair the damage done to our hull. We found and retrieved our 15 hrs about 8hrs latter. All told, this mishap that would have completely destroyed many designs, cost us about 250 bucks to repair. Having sailed her now for over 20 years all over the world I have many stories like this. Click my thing if you want to see the sweetest boat ever built, next to my other boat that is, which goes on land as well.

This boat reminds me of my first home. My dad repurposed a wooden 32' lifeboat from the 1920s into a sloop, back in the 50s. It took him 2.5 years to renovate it. He bent the ribs over an open fire in his backyard. It was his escape plan from his abusive wife who would hit him and my half brother. They both left the mid Atlantic coast, to sail throughout the Caribbean before settling in Miami. I lived on that sailboat the first 18 mos. of my life. My dad built a houseboat that we moved aboard and lived on four 12 years.

To me having a fresh water-maker is one of the few essentials for living aboard. Although you can carry quite a bit between your tank and bottles, being able to push a button and have drinkable water gives you great piece of mind.

The boat life is way older than the RV life. Probably people were boating before the invention of the cart or wheel. I am building out a cargo trailer. I've lived in it for 2 .5 yrs And as of late I've had no furniture that was not "permanent." I have designed a kitchen galley around a rv range. I've never seen its likeness. It's the catalyst. Can't wait to start the build.

You look like a nice guy. Thank you for the beautiful video. I live on a small steel yawl with wooden masts for 5 years now. Steel seems to be often overlooked or not mentioned. Which is weird because for me it seems to be the most idiot-proof material that a boat can be built out of. And it is so so much stronger than plastic or wood. And easy to fix!

Im buying a chunk of land here soon, since a shitty fixer upper house is almost half a million. Its going to force me to learn a lot to build my dream, since the American government and greedy corporations have completely destroyed the American dream for most. A read that a child born TODAY, is responsible for over $110,000 of the mations debt. Thats ridiculous. The wife and I live a very responsible life well below my means and invest while making good money and buying a house just becomes more and more out of reach every year.

Another misleading video as it is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to legally live on a boat with liveaboard permit or even find available mooring balls except in undesirable anchorages. Various Bureaucracy, social apathy towards sailors, and NIMBYism continues to remove legality and availability of moorage and continues to pair down the availability of liveaboard permits. Without a permit it is ILLEGAL to live on a boat. Even when finding the perfect boat it is often difficult or impossible to find a long term slip as dock let alone get a valid liveaboard permit. Most harbors have waiting lists which are YEARS long to obtain permits.

Most of us aren’t stupid, we realize the philosophies inherent in resourceful commitments to living off the beaten path, whether by boat, by RV, or just plain hermitage. 33 minutes sound like preaching here. Why not just say, “my lifestyle, I love it, lots of changes, give and take. May not be for everyone.”
