Thank you Hayato! This was an incredible deep dive and I learned so much while editing it. I saw it 50+ times and had a chance to re think things about my own climbing. I tried my best to make the subtitles as clear as possible but I understand that its a deep conversation and I also have my own bias understanding japanese. I recommend watching it more than once! I had to make the decision of either making it much longer or making it simpler, I hope I managed the right balance and you guys can enjoy 🔥

You have gone deeper in the wonder of the Japanese climbing scene than any other "high" quality climbing channel by pure curiosity and joy. Really enjoying your insight. Hope you manage to stay as long as you want in Japan.

WOW that you feel that way blows my mind really. This just made my week. I always just make the videos I would've love to have seen when I want living here, and I'll keep on doing that 🔥

Probably the only video in this vein where Japanese is exclusively spoken in the interview, thank you for the great video

Thanks!! For sure we could do a bit on English but since there were some deep topics I wanted Hayato to be able to really express his feelings without the language barrier

@@CrispyCrimpsClimbing a video suggestion, might be a boring topic but could be fun to deep-dive into the business and culture of gyms in Japan. Having lived in Japan for the last 3 years I've accumulated probably around 30+ gym registration (登録料). It would be fun to see your opinion about it, maybe post B-pump as they have one of the most controversial ways of making money as they charge you per branch. Also, why is the gyms so much cheaper in Tokyo than in Osaka? What's happening. lol
@CrispyCrimpsClimbing13 сағат бұрын
I think it's an interesting concept, maybe not a stand alone video but would be a good mention if I ever do a video about climbing in Japan in general I think it's just the density of gyms here is nuts so there's a lot of competition to drive the price down, especially having a lot of student climbers the day pass (as long as you leave before peak time) is crazy cheap 1100 at Bpump I think 700 at noborock It's insane and also breeds strong climber's since students are broke

Getting on a Japanese bouldering team must be one of the toughest challenges known to men... Ifsc rules suck so bad. 4 people from the strongest nation is ridiculous.

Incredible vid as always! I have a question about his advice to try many hard climbs. I find it difficult to know how much I should push myself on hard climbs. I fear if I may get injured by trying my max power repeatedly. Do you have any tip on when to stop when trying hard? I climb max at V7 (1-2 kyuu in average Japanese gyms?). Looking forward to see your performance on BJC, Hayato-san!
@CrispyCrimpsClimbing2 күн бұрын
Thank you!! 🙏 I see, if you think about it that is actually the hardest most important question in climbing, load management. If you push too hard you break, but if you don't you don't improve. Personally I would say there's 2 big things. 1. Understanding your own body, it takes years but it is an important skill so cultivate it. For sure getting a coach helps and also every once in a while having a friend say that you can do a boulder can be enough to know that physically you're there 2. Look at other aspects, can the beta be improved? Am I actually giving real tries or are they only 70% because I don't think I can do it (these are the worst since they still load your body but you don't learn much), are you focusing on diet/sleep? It's hard to say without knowing but looking at it from micro and macro will help guide yourself 🔥
@whomwhom1969Күн бұрын
@ Thank you for your advice! Sounds like I need to experiment more on how much my actual max is. That understanding it is actually a skill is a great tip! Looking forward to your new vids! 😊
