I went from 76 hand laborers to just me and 1 worker on the harvester. 2 more in the shelling plant.

Thank you for your time yesterday catching up. I love seeing what you're doing, and wish you the very best Patrick. Get them peas picked and keep feeding folks fine S. Georgia field crops.

Thanks for watching. It was good to catch up. Maybe your son and I can catch a few fish off the beach soon.

I love your content! On the dirt problem, We would just take the beans out of the bag in scattered them out a little bit and then wash them with a high pressure water hose. Always did the trick.

A good harvest means long days, but in the end, it's a blessing to do what you do for you and your family.

Love the videos Patrick, I own a small farmers market myself, I was just wondering in a given day how many bushels are you able to pick?
@PatrickShivers Жыл бұрын
There is a lot of variables there. Most days I pick, process, deal with customers, and direct labor. (Usually in reverse order than that, finishing my day by picking tomorrow’s processing peas). If you have someone there to haul them off and you don’t have to stop picking, oxbo says that machine will cover 5 acres.

I don't know why but it blows my mind to see anything but cotton peanuts corn milo and soybeans planted there !!
@PatrickShivers Жыл бұрын
If I could speed up our processing I would plant more acres of peas. We turn away WAY more orders than we fill.

Hey Patrick, Who makes that bean harvester you use? I am looking for one that size. Thanks for the great video's.

How much HP do you need to have in a tractor to run the picker? I Like your channel! I grow and sell on a smaller scale over here in AL….love growing those BVR pinkeye purple hull…I’ve got a well born sheller too but smaller version!
@PatrickShivers Жыл бұрын
I don’t think it takes much hp. I use to pull it with a 4020, but it wouldn’t go slow enough at PTO speed. You need to have a tractor with a creeper gear…..and you can’t get a machine harvester anywhere near BVR. Don’t ask me how I know.

@PatrickShivers Жыл бұрын
I purchased mine from Regal Equipment up in Ohio. They re-furbish processing equipment. You can google search Urschel Model 30 cutter.

Do you irrigate in dry years ?
@PatrickShivers Жыл бұрын
I have irrigated and non-irrigated fields. Irrigated fields are irrigated even in the wettest years.
