My money is on EEAAO I think it pushes boundaries compared to all the other film in the categories. That being said I won't be surprised if Top Gun: Maverick takes home the prize only because when Steven Spielberg publicly tells Tom Cruise he saved Hollywood then the scales are kinda tipped.

Oh, if only the Oscars went to films that advanced the art form in each category. Sadly, this is far from true. Editing frequently goes to best picture (although there have been recent exceptions). But I agree with you that EEAAO should take the crown - even if it does get Best Picture too! I agree about Tar - it was, no offence to the editor, less creative editing and more assembly (although if I was nominated for editing Tar, I'd gladly take the kudos). I disagree about Elvis primarily because I love Baz and Baz does things in a Baz way and that includes never hovering on a shot longer than a half second. But that would be like dissing Wes Anderson's cinematographer for centering all the subjects and making everything pale. As for films that keep ending over & over, LOTR - The return of the King ended 12 times. And the Best Editing Oscar went to....? I'm a hypocrite with regards to the Oscar's. I hate award shows. I think they have a function but the big one's have lost meaning and the voting system is too prone to manipulation (e.g Tog Gun? Best Picture? Really???) But if I was nominated I'd be thrilled. And if I won, my ego could not be contained. LOVE your channel Piotr. And I love the look behind your desk. Keep up the great work.

LOTR is an exception imo since it's a huuuge story with a zillion of characters. And I do think that Tar was probably a challenge to edit since it was playing a lot with what we as the viewers know and what we don't. I love this: "Baz does things in a Baz way" :D well said!
