I think she let them hug in the trailer simply because her tail isn’t bend to the side so the risk of it slapping them is low, but in the concert we are probably sitting side-by-side, meaning that her tail would be bending to give room to others and acts like a loaded spring plate, threatening to sweep anything in its movement area (e.g. the MC holding the tail) hard if Ellen accidentally releases it.

Considering that the bones of a shark are actually made out of cartilage, Ellen's tail and tailfin could be far more sensitive than they look. Plus since shark skin is covered in microscopic spines called denticles, her tail could be very abrasive and scratchy, to the point it could give you a bad scrape. A little fact, Disclaimer : this is not confirmed by the game or community. It just my own theory with looking at it's preferencies so CMIIW. Ellen Shark Tail looks like based on Great White Shark which is most dangerous shark in the world. The proof is her signature weapon (W-Engine) and her tail color pattern. The dorsal one is like dark grey to mild black but the the ventral is white. Het Sign Weapon also shown a head of shark is bitting a divesuit usually used by human who diving to ocean. This proof looks confirmed that she was Great White Shark if you connect this to real life. She said Shark Tail isn't that cute becaus actually Shark Tail Swipe is dangerous to human and can broke the bone. And she doesn't want her buddy got hurt (remember she also Introvert one, and Introvert mostly struggling hard to get a new friend so a buddy is just as precious as gold)

Great Whites aren't the most dangerous. It's just that Ellen is themed after JAWS who is a great white. Most dangerous can be extremely subjective depending on criteria. To humans, to prey, on average attacks, successful hunts, there are tons of ways that can be measured.

Ellen is actually a hybrid of Great White and Greenland shark which are polar opposite of each other. Ellen has hints of Greenland Sharks with her Ice attribute and MC2 "Arctic Ocean Predator". Greenland sharks unlike other sharks tend to sleep most of the time to conserve energy in the frigid arctic environment and as a scavenger species can eat rotten meat. Ellen sleeps a lot and can eat Alexandrina's food and not get sick.
