Today we're discussing the book The Reason I Jump: One Boy's Voice from the Silence of Autism (2007) in a new segment called BOOK TALK. The nonfiction work, penned by nonverbal autistic child Naoki Higashida and later translated by Keiko Yoshida and David Mitchell, follows a question and answer format to describe the life of an autistic person to allistic individuals. The book was later adapted to film and given a sequel known as Fall Down 7 Times Get Up 8: A Young Man's Voice from the Silence of Autism.
If you've read the book or seen the film, what did you think? Should we cover the film as well?
