When I was in my twenties, I wanted to travel the world. I did travel to many countries and I certainly saw beautiful places. I am now 59 years old, I have the money to travel, I have the time, etc. The only thing is that I don’t have a desire to travel anymore! I realize that home is the best place to be. I live in Canada and I know life is not any better anywhere else.

@@thedavidboland I think each and every person should travel to different countries, plan routs himself, meet new people to learn some lessons from this and than settle down. Some get stuck in this, some take more time, but if you don't do this you will be pretty restricted in your judgements about other places, countries and people and you'll probably have regrets and issues with valuing your peasefull life.

@@JVlk-tw6fsi majored in composition and wrote multiole ballets and symphonies, through art i made friends from everywhere in the world who i still talk to 20 years later. I have studied the culture and art of dozens of country as an etnomusicologist, to the point that my japanese/german/chinese friends are startled by the familiarity i have with their cultural heritage. I married and had kids, sent them college, and cared for them everyday. I guess im a regretful ,close minded loser to you huh?

I've just booked a trip due to dissatisfaction. I dislike my current living situation, my job isn't fulfilling and I feel stuck, I lack genuine friendships, and my past relationship failed due to the lack of emotional bonding. You're correct... the pain remains within us, and no matter where we go, we carry it with us. Certain patterns tend to recur like a curse. Traveling becomes an escape route.

This is essentially the story of The Alchemist book by Paolo Coehlo. Aside from the adventure, what you were searching for when you went travelling, you already had. It was your mind preventing you seeing that. But, you had to travel to come to that understanding. The key is to realise this, which you have done- and then settle before it's too late - there is a window of time to settle down, once you pass 40-45 its very hard. The problem is, you have to make changes in your behaviour in your hometown, which is not easy. When you travelled, you were forced to socialise. In the dorms you were literally forced to be socialble. Back home you can procrastinate. You don't have to socialise because you can do it tomorrow. You can hide away and plan your next trip. Even if you settled in one of these far away countries, you would eventually come to the same feeling as you have at home. Trust me, i've done it. Each time you go on a new trip, you get depressed because deep down you know you are wasting your time - you will never find what you are searching for - because its not "out there", its inside. You already had it. The "kingdoms all inside" my friend, to quote a song.

I'm about to go on a 6 months trip starting next week. I know it will be lonely, all my family and friends are here. I'm doing it because I love nature and I want to experience different biomes and landscapes, where I'm from is a concrete jungle for miles and miles. We all travel for different reasons.
@xLillyLx Жыл бұрын
I understand you so well! First time I moved away from home was the same for me. I was excited about being on my own, away from my parents. And although there were great experiences that shaped me into the person I am today, loneliness did catch up with me. But then I would leave again, find a new place, feel fine for a while and then get lonely again. Eventually I realised I was running from my problems and that the "I'll be happy when.." doesn't ever work. I am currently working on being content with who and where I am presently. (That doesnt't mean I don't still want to see the world but for different reasons) Anyway, like your content, you got a new subscriber here!

I haven't done much international travel, but I've been in the southwest (U.S.) quite a bit. Thing is, that is mostly desert, which I really love. Vast, empty spaces, incredible vistas. My trips to Dublin, Paris, and London, as nice as those places are, pale in comparison. No more visiting cities for me. I've just lost my taste for crowds; I'd rather stay in my room.
@florentalicevlogs543 Жыл бұрын
I understand this so well. This is the truth, I do think people HAVE to travel not only to understand it, but to believe it and being able to apply this mindset into their everyday life. Hearing it and understanding it is not enough, so fly around the world and enjoy, until you can really understand it. ♥

I never liked travel because it was stressful. My hometown is not great but I learned to be apart of different communities and it’s very fulfilling.

This helped a lot. I haven't been travelling in years and deeply missed it, so I went on a short trip. had lots of fun and fell in love with the adventure all over again. but it made me realize that there are several things I enjoy about travelling that I lack in my everyday life. I want to make an effort to work on building my social circle in the area I live at and to push myself out of my comfort zone more often. It's so easy to reinvent parts of yourself when being somewhere else but it's not sustainable. Thank you so much for sharing your perspective!!

There's a segment of people (especially on social media) who are simply OVERDOING it. Be it their real passion, or for views, likes, validation, etc. I have a full-time job, albeit a remote one but I do have to be at home in the same city as my job, and obviously a stable residence, yet I still get to go on SEVERAL domestic and international adventures throughout the year. People just need to chill, manage their time and money well, have a work-life-travel balance and they won't miss out.

It appears that I "stumbled" upon your channel but I know I attracted it. After watching this video and another about ceasing to travel a calm enveloped me. After traveling around Mexico, then to Africa, and spending 3 months traveling thru Europe, travel fatigue led me back to Mexico, my home since 2021. Now the only place I get excited about traveling to is back to the US, where I'm from, to see family and friends and familiar places. Your videos have given me the green light to stop thinking I ought to be searching "out there" for connection and community and instead be okay with looking closer to home, i.e., Mexico, and within myself for the connection and community for which I yearn. Good content.

This resonates with me so much. All the time I wanted to travel because I wanted to escape people, I imagined only the green wide hills with noone in the sight. And by fortune I found places like this near places where I lived. Not wide green hills just no people in sight. It became my place of peace. I would love to find more places like this. The problem is the more people know about them and share them, the more people visit them. Now I have no desire to travel at all and I´m thinking why?

I experience nostalgia on the regular, for places I’ve been. It’s pretty much a detriment to the present moments. But on the other hand, I’ve had it all set, all paid for, to stay in place, and it felt like a trap. So I remain confused on what’s best. And it’s weird how people can show up in your life and tell you you are nothing, and you’ll believe them and feel worse. When in reality you have more, did more, than they ever will. And that lesson is to stay firm in self in contentment.

More people know this already, but it isn't anything to be or feel guilty about. It's an insight that I find each one of us feels and has built within ourselves. Tapping into this is huge personal growth. Lost feelings are normal feelings I've realized. In the transition of grieving anything or anyone we love or care deeply about or for, even self. We can say this is true in almost any area of our lives. If we don't feel home within ourselves loving of the someone, somewhere. We are as is us taking as a turtle carries it's home and the knowing of doing so. Taking ourselves along the way daily. Through all our emotions. No matter what they are and nurture ourselves along the way. This is insight, wishing it were more instinctual. As to know when the rythym of our own heart isn't beating well. In tune, skipping a beat, or has it added a few beats and to the why of this all. I've come to realize. Yet the why is it as it is, or why doesn't someone change it. The better thing I've come to say is what might I myself do to make this experience different now. I want it shared with all. I'm glad you share what has danced like a pinball of thinking inside my minds thoughts throughout my life. I myself as the pinball in my youth; you're talking about the big things and able to give such great visuals along side of the articulation in both educational and layman terminology. For this, a hero are you. Never stop. 💛🌞 My breath of fresh air.

I am I irish I travel out of curiosity and to meet people different from me perhaps the opposite to you I see alot of people like you on the road man depressed and somehow lost but thats not why one should travel really ?,perhaps where your from is a boring place lets face it although ireland is a magical place its not as interesting as somewhere like india or the amazon jungle for example ?,why do you feel the need to blame yourself perhaps your just from a dull town man and your young and want more thats perfectly natural ,seems to me people are programed to blame themselves by default ,if your looking for community perhaps. stay in your community in ireland like you say ,when I arrive in new place I feel happy and exicited but I love to travel if you are " being your authentic self" as you say then perhaps admit your not meant for travelling it kind of seems like it man either way I wish you all the best Im not criticising you in anyway just making an observation

Did you fix your relationships? Did yiu achieve professionaly ir personally?
