Well what is it that they stop you from doing? If it's a hobby and passion, go for it and try to fund it yourself. Don't do what I did, but I would hold the lunch money I was given for school and saved it to buy art supplies. Saved the money that was supposed to be for class trips and bought myself a violin. I grew up believing that it was better to ask forgiveness than permission and I was too stubborn about sticking to what I wanted that my parents didn't know what to do with me.
