My sister and me say the same we keep it from my mom as she is very senior and has PTSD from growing up in the London Blitz! Never knowing if they would survive the night! She is so frail and if she hears it she get nervous. So we have decided best not to mention anything to her and let her be stress free. Whenever I have her hands start shaking.

Im a bit confused, I agree with all Fr Mark has said from Jesus' teachings and Sacred Scripture, but is he saying rely on Christ by reading the Gospel daily which we should but is he saying stay silent? I just need clarification; what are your thoughts. Also Esther's uncle say although you remain silent, you wil get relief elsewhere but your Father's house will perish. Does this mean speak up against evil as well??

I believe Fr. Goring is saying we should be courageous like Queen Esther and fight a good fight with the Grace of God and for the Glory of God. If you read the Book Esther you can learn a lot. I know I did. God bless.

Perhaps we should be tending to our spiritual lives but that, alone, seems selfish. What of those who do not see the evil, should we not warn them? Especially those in positions of leadership like priests? Surely Jesus would not have advocated just calling evil "crazy" and not actually acting against it. Our world is going down to evil, this is our test-should we not call it out and name it for what it is?

I have stopped watching the news, engaging in politics, listening to modern music, I don’t do social media, watch TV, movies, no Netflix or Amazon video. I say all 4 decades of the Rosary everyday plus one Rosary of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows. I only use my cell phone for an alarm clock and phone calls. I read my Bible daily and when I get home from work I read the lives of the Saints. I spend a half hour in front of the tabernacle before daily Mass and go to confession weekly. I try to pray for an hour on my break on my night shift job but usually fall asleep about 15 minutes in. I have tremendous peace in my life now. I don’t worry about anything past, present, or future. I want nothing but Jesus and Mary. I try to accept all crosses God sends me with joy. I unite absolutely every suffering to the sufferings of Christ for the salvation of souls and for the souls in purgatory. I am oblivious to how crazy the world is getting. I am only and totally focused on heaven. If you want true, deep peace in your life walk away from the world completely.

Me too....but the peace of heart and obliviousness to the world has yet to come for me. Then again, I remember in the prayer to Our Lady of Sorrows that we ask to share in Mary's burden and "oh, how happy we would be if we could do this for her". So perhaps she is answering that prayer for us now. Lord, give us grace!

Thomas what made a huge difference for me was reading story of a soul by St. Therese of Lisieux. I have read it 5 times now. She turned me onto The Imitation of Christ by Thomas E Kempis which I will read for the 3rd time shortly. St. Therese pretty much had it memorized and put it into practice. The Blessed Mother mentioned The imitation of Christ in one of her apparitions and that she wanted a visionary to read from it. I decided I want to internalize St. Therese little way and make it my own so I will read the story of a soul many more times. Since she is a doctor of the Church now you can’t go wrong with her. Both of her parents Louis and Zellie Martin have been canonized Saints by Pope Francis. Her sister Leonie is now a servant of God and on her way to canonization. I won’t be surprised if her 3 other sisters are canonized as well as they were all along with St. Therese Carmelite nuns. I strive for quiet and solitude so I can pray like they did. I had an extraordinary experience with St. Therese when I was a teenager if you would like to hear about it.

I have read Story of a Soul...and while a good book of worthy and admirable advice, it failed to touch me on a deep level. In fact, many of the books of saints (Teresa of Avila, Padre Pio, Francis of Assisi, Therese of Lisieux, Faustina Kowalska...these, I've read) seem to drift away from me early on. To express their "humility," many saints try to impress on us their "wretchedness" or "abysmal nothingness of being" or "worst soul ever allowed to draw breath" which is all well and good...but, my mind then goes to souls like Herod and the slaughter of the Innocents or Vlad the Impaler or Attila the Hun or Genghis Khan or Pol Pot and the Killing Fields....and I'm left qualifying this saint's advice based on questioning their judgement or sense of historical scale. Someone has suggested the story of Theresa of Calcutta as she has admitted not feeling God's presence thru much of her exemplary life. She may have trod the road I find myself on now. Prayers and Hope.

Amen! I literally slept all night with the adoration on I had a peaceful sleep! The sisters just changed one of the candles! I was watching Mother Angelica it is the election that has dragged me back into this insanity, I was not even going to vote but, my dad had a rule "it is your duty to vote". I honestly, was thinking the other day I should have joined a convent when I was younger! Seriously, once the priest said at mass is there anyone you know who you feel should enter the religious life and my mom looked at me. I was like thinking I was going to get married and have children. Which never happened I was doing my will not Gods I have decided. Most days I don't pay attention to what is going on in the world and surround myself with my faith. Anyways, sorry for TMI have not been sleeping. I think I will have to turn it all off again.
