Let`s be real,this Domyouji was the best. Matsumoto Jun gave just the right amount of snarky,petty,at times manchild energy. Plus,he looks like he`s having so much fun. F4 bond also feels much stronger,plus Makino ACTUALLY has a personality. The fact that most people`s introduction to F4 is through Boys Over Flowers HURTS me. I remember watching BOF after this and the FIRST time the FL screamed I went...*close tab* no thank you

She really isn`t(not to be rude to your mom). From my understanding of the character,in both manga and the drama,the reason why Makino doesn`t cause a scene,unless provoked,is because she`s well aware someone of her status can be suspended or kicked out at a drop of a hat. This would not only render her parents` effort useless,but her future would also be jeopardized,therefore she wouldn`t be able to repay them. Her character is quite modern still,given it was originally written in the 90s. But rarely is this juxtaposition of her strength and circumstances presented,so she almost always turns out a doormat when she isn`t. Korean version is ESPECIALLY guilty of this. I think 2005 version understood all the characters the most and the fact it isn`t the most popular version is mindboggling to me. @randompasserbyontheinterne9195

WARNING: A LOT OF TEXT HERE the same happens to me!! I saw the Korean version first last year (I think), which is the most popular (deserved for the actors but unfortunately at the same time) and I could only get to chapter 2 or so I think and I couldn't take it anymore, it bored me and also the personality they gave to the protagonist bothered me a lot, that gave me a lot of ick and cringe the way in which she spoke and acted and did not defend himself in those chapters I was fed up. Then I saw the Chinese one and it was good, I liked that she had more attitude there but it also bored me and I didn't continue any further After chapter 1 and finally about two weeks ago I decided to give it another chance and watch the Japanese version because I saw another Jun Matsumoto drama and fell in love with him and his acting. The Japanese version deserves more popularity. I don't know if it's on Netflix but if not I hope they add it soon (like meteor garden and the Korean version) so that it grows more in popularity, I'm so tired of not finding a decent edit on tiktok plss 😭

No to mention how she relies too much on the 2nd lead lol (and the audacity to waste Lee Min Ho and take the soulmate title from him when Tsukasa was always supposed to be the soulmate and MAIN GUY). Jae Kyung was even better and much more likable than Jan Di as a character tbh. Any other version is better than BOF. Only good things BOF has was Jae Kyung and Yi Jeong and Ga Eul.

This is no doubt the BEST version and i would consider the OG bec.the characters were well played and they followed the OG story and scenes from manga. If you watched the anime too you would clearly see how they stick to it.

God this Domyoji gives so much vibes like Thyme from F4 Thailand. It's really interesting how F4 decided to take inspiration from the Japanese version. I am happy that they didn't take inspiration from the Korean one cuz that one is just pure shit.

Japanese version is more faithful to the manga, korean ver is the least faithful. That's why Thyme more similar to Domyoji than to Junpyo Domyoji is wayyy crazier than Thyme tho 😂

@@elwany3581 huh? the storyline is the same in all the versions, they just change some things here and there to make it refreshing. if you use that logic for gorya falling for thyme then might as well apply that logic for all the versions lmao, it's the same story. thyme wasn't dating someone else while seeing gorya, that was the arranged marriage plot and it was pretty understandable what was going on. he never liked his arranged fiancee, he only loved gorya throughout the whole story. the only reason he even "dated" his fiancee was because gorya broke up with him and told him to pursue his fiancee. i respect your opinion but i don't agree with your comments at all imo the thai version was the best overall along with the japanese. if anything the relationship in the thai version felt the most natural among all the versions because the acting and the tone of the story was overall more realistic and less theatrical.

I never watch makino, Sanchai, Jan di confessed that she loves the Tsukasa, a Tse, Jun Pyo at hospital scene EXCEPT gorya, which i thought is TOO soon for me, the female characters always in Denial as they confused much to fall in love with such BULLY ( it's beyond their morals and dislikeness ), they admitted their love when the male characters totally changed, EXCEPT gorya. You said that they have same storyline, so, all of version have FORCED RELATIONSHIP between male char and third person, but i never watch The female characters step in relationship with male characters until the relationship between the male char and the third party ended EXCEPT gorya. They wait until other girls pull themselves, except gorya. Gorya is like" i broke up with u, but now i love u, you should break up with Lita, so we can be together " This is gorya from my POV. I admit that Thai version is most entertaining, but it lack of intensity for me. No offense

I dont want to compare them as each version has their own , but i admit that i love much japan storyline, their separation track which bonded with many thing, ( responsibility , business ethics bla bla) and how makino ' pure heart has saved domyouji company .and their amnesia part is the best. I love the way the amnesia domyouji feels restless to see makino's tears, or when the necklace gain his attention even though he disgusted with it, or how his instinc try to save makino without being recover.

This version is the best. I first watched the Chinese and Korean ones, because they were on Netflix, and I thought- this is so cringy, but so full of potential, why am I not feeling it. Until I saw the Japanese Hana Yori Dango and understood what was missing. 1. Domyouji. I'm sorry but Daoming Si and Goo Junpyo are but a shell of Jun Matsumoto created in Hana Yori Dango. He wants to be cool, walks like the world is his runway, but he's kinda dumb and a manchild. Other versions don't focus as much on his emotional state, but the Japanese one shows clearly that he deals with everything he feels through punches. He's angry because he likes Makino, he's angry because she doesn't smile at him- and he deals with everything through punches. This is the only version that repeatedly shows who he is and why he's like that. But his hurt face, oh God, his hurt face haunts me to this day! When he sees Rui and Makino hugging, or that time when he sees her photos, his face is just engraved in my mind. Other actors just could not come close to that. (Btw I love how they emphasize how stupid he is, how he speaks in a wrong way, it's hilarious and so so fitting. Only a stupid person would express their emotions through punches anyway. Usinng the word stupid very, very lovingly lol). 2. Makino- in this version she's the best. Other actresses are fine, but I just hated that they were so reluctant to show their real feelings. I loved that she mentions how just seeing Domyouji with Sakurako made her chest prickle, or how she openly tells him she loves him, to him in s1, and to his sister in s2. Makino walking through the muddy river just to retrieve the necklace hits harder than similar recreations of the scene. At some point she tells him "don't say anything weird, I'm at my limit", as in, they are separated and she's suffering although she looks collected. I just love when women also express their feelings so openly. Other versions have the female leads getting the confessions out through their teeth, they are practically forced to do it. You're telling me a girl that stands up to f4 like that isn't brave about her feelings? Come on! 3. The confession scene. Does this even need to be elaborated? This scene standing alone is better than all other recreations full stop. Domyouji's face when he sees her running, it's only then that he kind of gets an inkling to her feelings, and he's trying to be cocky about it with "you're in love with me"- but when she openly says "I am"- the way his face changes- UGH. SO GOOD. Emotional, romantic, memorable. - BTW, yes, all versions have a big level of cringe, but I find this irrelevant, because many dramas are. Embrace the cringe.
